I was messing with some files in Jomsocial and I realized that this is a big deal.. not only 1 template they are making but 3 separate ones that look the same.. Defiantly getting our monies worth here.

In the usual case, when you make a theme template with several themes, it is when it comes to something like JomSocial only to replace images with other ones. That means you have several stylesheets for each theme and each theme has its own images folder. So basically you do not have to code several times the same but one default version and the others that load inside the default framework with the varying images. This is how a JA Template with different themes is structured. More work it becomes when you have several layouts for different themes in one templates or different modules with varying content.

Haven’t got the chance to look into JomSocial yet, so this just about how it normally goes down.

Yeah i find that a little strange as well. a little info of where they are at with this template. Its been a while without any response from JA.

coding coding coding… I’ll stop saying that now. I was lucky to get a response from JA from twitter and they said hopefully the 15th. I am a little weary on Kunena’s side of it. they have had changes to their templates making old templates obsolete. I am really excited about this template and I will change to it as soon as it comes available> I just hope Kunena 1.5 will be ready for it or we will get support for the skin from JA until we get a full stable from them

It’s been a while since this has been released, jom social is pretty buggy, and considering the varients, JA probably went in a bit over their heads lol.

@spmedia I am using JS right now it I really have no issues with it. none of my users are noticing anything

Same here, no problems with Jomsocial itself (Running 1.2.195). However the new JS Blackout template is very buggy and has lots of formating issues when adding applications etc, one of the reasons I’m looking forward to the dark JA Sulfur templates.

No problem with JomSocial too (1.2.195) using the default template. I (unfortunately) think that the reason why they wait is Kunena (although most of us will not need a forum as JS provides group discussions…).

    Wait and see.

Forgot to say that I am still a little bit disappointed about the silence of the JA Team… Not only on the template development but also the commercial issues around the Magento/Joomla templates (a common package or a discount price for JA suscriber would make a lot of sense) or the release process (a public demo to find potential bugs…).

Just silence… not really professional, not really respectful.

Joomlart Team, will you prove me wrong and answer thiese questions ?

guys dont rush the joomlart team, i know they have been taking a really long time but your patience could mean quality code in the template at the end of it, rushing them for answers only leave them less time to further tune quality code to perfection or at least a well above decent quality template. moreover, kunena 1.5 is still in beta.

im as excited as you guys but let’s give them time to produce quality code and a not poorly coded template done in a rush.

    cheers.
