I may use PHPBB3, seeing too many posts about Kunena with the word beta in it…

Thanks!

Kunena 1.5.1 is currently in beta.

Kunena 1.0.10 is their stable release.

The developers have stated that 1.5.1 is actually more stable than 1.0.10 and a RC should be released soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see JA Sulfur emerge around the same time as a RC for Kunena 1.5.1.

Kunena 1.5.2rc going into final testing. twitter.com/kunena

and from some people at kunena, it seems that 1.5.2rc is now even more stable than 1.0.10

I agree now. some kind of update would be nice. They said the 15th. it would be like christmas with no presents if it is not released on that date

I completely agree. An update from Joomlart team would be more than welcome.

But it seems they do not want to take any risk…

Please guies tell us more about:
– The version of Kunena which will be implemented
– As a consequence a potential release date
– A potential testing period on a demo site
– Your policy for a discount price on a package Joomla + Magento

What is the point of a “forum support” if there is NO answer to our questions ? Then we will just start sending hundreds of emails asking all the same questions again and again… not sure it is anyone interest.

So please just answer.

At the very least it would be nice to know which version of Kunena the template will support before the new version is released. This will customers to make a more informed decision as to if they should upgrade Kunena or not.

If JA had not give you a peek at the upcoming template none of you would be complaining…..let them get the new template out and then you can all see which version of Kunena they are going to be using.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to give some updates & answers to some of your questions as below (I know this should be done earlier. This template is getting more & more heat everyday)

Updates:

We have almost finalized the all themes variation at the development server. If everything goes smooth, we can put on the Live Demo on the coming Monday (15th June) and normally the download will be available after 2 days. This is quite a BIG templates so your testing & bug report will be very helpful.

amejat;130865GREAT template and very nice integration with Magento too.

So here is my question: Could we have a package with the Joomla template AND the Magento template. I do not want to pay a Magento subscription just for one template but the integration is very good…

And in that case, the decision is completely from Joomlart (not like for Jomsocial). So please, think about it. to me, the Magento subscription is REALLY too expensive (compared to Joomla subscription and considering the fact that most of the work is done for both at the same time) and it would really make sense to have packages including templates for Joomla AND Magento in the same package.

I hope Joomlart team will take profit of JA Sulfur to propose us a way to access the Magento template which fits our Joomla template without paying two subscription.

Regards
We can not offer this kind of package. It will be very complicated for both Joomla & Magento users, especially the newbies. If you do a research arround the Magento templates provider, you will see that our fee plans are the most reasonable. (please do not compare Magento to Joomla; Magento Enterprise starting at $8,900 USD Annually while Joomla Enterprise 🙂 is $0)

xion;130929very nice template!!! seems to be just perfect for my next project, when will the release be available?
As said, within next week, positively!

amejat;131469It seems that ther main issue for the release is Kunena (that many people on this discussion said they do not care of…).

It would be nice to hear from Joomlart team about this question (and in general about integrating non stable extensions). Do they have a general policy like:
– Only release templates compatible with stable extensions ?
– Release templates with current (potentially unstable) version of the extension ?

And in the particular case of Kunena, it seems clear that the stable 1.5 version will not be released before weeks. It also seems stupid to release a template with the 1.0 version (and the legacy mode…). So, what is Joomlart team opinion on this ?

I am sure they have some kind of answer… it would be nice if they could share it with us.
amejat;131556@wooohanetworks

I completely agree with you that it is impossible to release anything 100% stable. But as many people on this forum asked JA to wait for a stable version of Kunena (I don’t), i think it would be nice to see the JA dev team precisely explaining what are their criteria for a release and tell us if they plan to wait for Kunena 1.5 stable (please do not wait !) or if they will release before with either Kunena 1.0 in legacy mode or 1.5 RC (which to my opinion would be stable enough…).

I have no problem to wait for the template to be complete and tested (and once again the idea of Ganzuelo is great!) but I would not like to wait for Kunena team to move on (they use to be so so so slow…).
And actually, I would also love to hear JA about a potential discount for JA member to get the matching Magento template. 120 bucks for one template ! Come on !

The only reason why JA tried to reduce the number of Joomla templates released per months is to save resources to develop Magento templates. But there was no compensation for people who subscribe to Joomla templates (and the price of the magento templates are ridiculously high). So please, make an effort and propose us a good deal to get both the magento and joomla sulfur templates.

In fact, I haven’t got much time to play around with Kunena 1.0 version but the story of FireBoard & Kunena is like Mambo & Joomla, even the Kunena is still in RC but from my limited experience working on the Sulfur integration, it works like a charm

I know its asking for alot but if JA could put up the demo of atleast one color we could all sign up and use it as a test community. that way if there are any bugs we can help get em stamped out before the official release.

I think it is the best idea on this topic !

I completely agree that a demo test would allow the community to help identifying bugs and make sure the release is close from perfection.

Thanks Ganzuelo for the suggestion !

Yes, we will put it up and thank you for your help on testing

So to summarize:

– Do not wait for Kunena 1.5 stable but tell us which version on Kunena will be compatible with the template.
– Make a community demo so that we can identify bugs before the official release.
– Make a good deal for people who want to have both Joomla and Magento templates.
– And ultimately, negociate a discount price with Azrul for Joomlart members who would like to buy Jomsocial.

I think it has been one of the richest pre release discussion so far :p

1. JA Sulfur will compatible with the latest 1.5 version, 1.5.1b at the time of Sulfur integration. We will try to release an update to the template if there a newer Kunena version in the future
2. As mentioned, we can put up the testing demo for a few days before final release.
3. Yes, we have made a lot of promotions.
4. Sure, as my last discussion with Azrul, he will give JA users a big discount, I will let you know how big is his discount at the day of release 🙂

I just tried to install JomSocial on JA tubes and I had plenty of parse errors. Reading JomSocial forums, it seems JomSocial usually do not work fine with JA templates (JA vauxite does not work too). So, I would clearly prefer to spend a few days more on a demo and have everything working fine for JomSocial.

I have done a test but JA template is created under high quality assurance control, and all standard & popular components work well with JA templates. I have reviewed the HTML & markups of JomSocial and I think the HTML can be designed better. I have given Arzul some comments on this.
