May 20, 2009 at 4:10 pm #305237stridr;129401 . . . , and still the question exists, will it come in pink only?
Nothing ever comes in “only,” because you always have the ability to modify/customize it any way you like.

Do you know something we don’t know? Last I checked, JomSocial is a commercial component.

I’m curious as to how this will work also. Will the JomSocial aspect to the template be an additional fee or is it included in the template download?
Anyways, looks really, really nice!! Now if I only had a need for a JomSocial website… 😎
I think I’m going to have to make a need…that template looks like it would be fun to work with.

May 21, 2009 at 3:06 am #305318I probably read more….;)

This is the developer of JomSocial. Now, I do not know if any installation of JomSocial comes with this entry as demo content or if this entry was placed afterwards by Arzul and JA. It can be a hint that JA Members may get some good deal on this one, hopefully free for developer members or so, or it is just demo content…
Time to sharp your eye sight and mind, big possibilities await for the enlightened individual…with a lot of open questions indeed, lol!;)
But the message there comes kind of hard…if you read, it can read like “when you refer a friend, and your friend is hired, we will pay you your friends 1th month salary….and not your friend, ha ha ha!!” :D:D:D

May 21, 2009 at 8:37 am #305351looks great so far, just hope to see it integrate as smoothly as possible. I believe the Jomsocial web application joomla extension will have to be bought seperately, a license of its own, as far as i know.
keep up the good work, and remember, to joomlart : take your time and make it perfect

That is the discussion, that it is a commercial application, and in the comuna3 template by TemplatePlazza.com, also coming with a JomSocial integration and theme it was not included in the quickstart, but the community builder version was prepacked. Users who wanted to use JomSocial first had to purchase the component to get the site how it looks in the demo on their homepage.
When you read the posts, it is clear, that JA has been thinking about how to implement JomSocial right into their quickstarts and this would be a big difference as to what TP brought.
This is the reason why the discussion went into that direction, if the component will be free for JA members, as how else could it be in the QS when it is not included in the Member fee?
Also for Highslide JS, part of the JA Highslide modules, a JS library that is responsible for all the nice pop up login and slide picture shows in JA Templates, people have to pay no fee to the developer of Highslide JS. The normal regular fee when using Highslide JS on a commercial site is waived, as JA and the developer are into contract whatsoever to offer members the Highslide without needing to pay additional fees for the library as usually it would have to be, when using Highslide JS commercially. I asked the developer personally in his forum if JA members have to pay him the fee on top or not and the answer was no, already included in the membership fee.
Could become the same with JomSocial, this is what the discussion is about! Thanks!

May 21, 2009 at 3:28 pm #305392That’s not really a fair comparison as Highslide JS is available for a one-off fee of $179 and “entitles you to use all future versions of Highslide on all sites you develop in the future, for yourself or your customers, at no further charge.” Considering the amount of use JA get out of this extension, that’s very little cost.
Jomsocial on the other hand is $149 per site the last time I checked, I don’t know what a unlimited license would cost, or even if one is available but I’m quite sure it wouldn’t be worthwhile for JA to spend an enormous amount of money on what is a very limited market. Unless they were to produce nothing but Jomsocial templates, the figures just wouldn’t add up.
I created a site using the Jomsocial version of Communa3 for a client recently and it was very simple to set up, anybody could do it so there isn’t any reason for JA to do different IMO.
There again, I could be wrong 😮

Correct. There is not a chance, not even a small chance, JomSocial will be included ‘free’ with this template.
There may be a discount or something but free…? No way. Personally I think at $149 it’s well worth the money. I’ve tried it and it’s a great component (even though it has ‘Call home’).

May 22, 2009 at 7:22 am #305474i guess a coupon code will be the most likely thing, like how i got Jomsocia for half price.
May 22, 2009 at 12:05 pm #305529Hi, Joomlart team,

May 22, 2009 at 12:43 pm #305531Hi,
sorry if im going to sound rude, but more importantly you shouldnt rush them, since the Joomlart team hasnt delayed the template release. Infact i would want the Joomlart team to take as much time as needed, even, delays, for this template based on its complicated integration with 2 third party programs, plus one of them being a commercial one (jomsocial). They should be given even more time than usual to make the most bugless integration, and spend more time refining the design.
I wouldnt want them to rush, and i wouldnt use the template on a production site for at least 1 month after the release so at least, i wont have bugs everywhere. Why rush them, and possibly risk quality?
Would you rather have the template be released now and your website starts to get problems or wait for a longer time but much less issues?
Cheers,
