Simply awsome … very elegant and functional … the theme colors (especially the default, red, blue and orange) are clean, clear, and just magnificent. I do agree that it must integrate with JomSocial 1.2 and Kunena 1.5 – even if it means waiting a week or two. Keep up the great work.

I agree 100% . I would rather wait longer for this template to come out so that it comes with Kunena 1.5.

It is important to note that Kunena 1.5 is COMPLETELY rewritten…COMPLETELY different than Kunena 1.0 and so I think that if JA can just hold off for Kunena 1.5 to be stable it would be prefered.

Of course…I’m not sure if there’s a plugin developed to integrate JomSocial 1.2 and Kunena 1.5 yet.

Ahh…JA. Every time they come out with a template that has a built in forum, they do it right as the forum they use is becoming obsolete. The last one was Sanidine, which uses the unstable and unsupported Fireboard (which they should go back and modify, IMO).

I agree on the fact it is better to have a stable version of modules in a template but…

    In this specific case:
    – First: the roadmap for Kunena does not seem clear and the dev talk about a 1.5rc2 in days and a stable in weeks… waiting for Kunena stable would mean Sulfur being a July or maybe August template…
-Second and more interestingly, why do you need Kunena ? Forums were useful BEFORE the communities. Now Jomsocial allow each group to have its own discussion and each member can directly PM any other member. For me, a forum is then completely unuseful.

Forums are usually a huge stacks of information, usually with the same topics repeated many times because people do not even read it…

It is clearly more efficient to have several and separated group discussions and member to member messaging. Well used, these features make a forum completely unuseful (except if Kunena allow EACH group to have its OWN forum).

So before asking for more and more features and integration, maybe we should ask: Do I really need it ?

LOL, Kunena is developed by the exact same team which created the “unstable and unsupported Fireboard”.Kunena IS Fireboard.

It is funny to read in the same post that Kunena is completely rewritten and fully compatible with Joomla 1.5 (which means the dev team is actively working on it) and that Fireboard is unstable and unsupported (which means the dev team abandoned the project…).

Also, it takes 5mins to get Kunena to work with SandineII with the integration etc.

I’m not sure what you are getting at. I know it’s the same dev team.

I also know that Kunena 1.0 was practically a copy of Fireboard, with most effort to fix the security leaks that made Fireboard unstable. So, in other words, Kunena 1.0 is a solid forum and people should not have a problem using it.

Yes the dev team abandoned Fireboard. Isn’t that the point of switching from Fireboard to Kunena…even if it’s the same dev team? In the eyes of those same developers, Kunena is stable, Fireboard has security holes.

My whole point about Kunena 1.5 was that Kunena expects it to be stable within weeks. Directly from their website, they say “From here on 1.5.x will pretty much go its own way in terms of features, functions and fixes.”. Pretty much tells me that Kunena 1.0 will likely be old hat in the very near future. Not to mention that there are many Joomla 1.5 sites running in Legacy mode only because of one extension: Kunena 1.0

I may not be an expert, but you know what happens when we assume.

I really hope Kunena isn’t going to cause delays to this excellent template.

If they finish most of the template and are just waiting for the Kunena boys to catch up, why not pre-release a Kunena-less version for those of us that prefer to use phpBB3, vBulletin etc.

    Just a thought…..

Agreed, most of all, is the template it self that I wish will comes with new features eg.
script : faster load and light template performance etc.

Just as a side note — what were to happen if you used jomSocial without a license? I haven’t used it at all, although I do have some ideas for it.

I have always wondered that with extensions that I buy (I have no problem supporting the developers..they gotta eat too! lol)…I imagine there are a lot of scammers that download it for free from file sharing sites.

I also think it is the right way to purchase licenses but I also have one example.

To this point, this is what is going down in WESTERN europe, where the laws are very strict in any angle and people really know the laws…I simply can mention this but as I am no lawyer, also I can’t say more then what is going on:

Take a look at the osCommerce forks in western Europe, they forked the system and then offered it for money to people, yet is it much enhanced BUT here comes the clue… The GPL says it is not allowed to fork anything under this license and sell it, BUT you can sell the support for your fork, that means when you buy such product you may pay money for it but what you pay for is the access to the support they offer. Still you can only download it from their sites when purchasing the support access. Yet, the other people were smart and saw that this is not the real deal when it comes to GPL or any comparable licenses, they got the software and provide LEGAL LEGITIMATE downloads on normal sites, not such filesharing scum. Because the GPL says they have the right to do so and also the companies who sell the forks with the mentioned support access you pay for etc., they cannot do something against it, because they forked a GPL product.

Now another clue, any extensions standing under such license for this product, by the meaning ANY ALL extensions for this product have to stand under this license too, meaning anyone who gets those extensions can later offer those to the public, without any torrent or sharing bull to the public as it is legitimate and any other meaning of the GPL would be the scam.

So when all this is correct and by the facts happening it is correct, then use of any “commercial extension” for a GPL Product like Joomla is correct also when you do have no license as the GPL of the base products obsoletes the “commercial” of the extension…;)
