August 9, 2011 at 2:04 pm #167219I am using JA Sulfur 1.5 and have javascript errors relating to the animated main menu. On pages that link from the main menu, there are no problems. It only happens when I visit pages from a secondary menu in IE, and the animated main menu does not work on these pages. Everything works just fine in FF.
The errors are:
1. “Push is ‘null’ or not an object” located in mootools.js. Line 59, Char 3578
2. “Invalid Argument” located in mootools.js. Line 31, Char 1
Any takers?

August 9, 2011 at 3:20 pm #405160Dear rypetry,
Are you receiving these errors in all browsers? Please check.
Provide details of your hosting package – including software versions.
Sounds silly, but try shutting down IE and possibly rebooting your computer, and restarting in ‘safe mode” usually “fixes” it.
It may be a conflict between mootools and jquery, to check for this, try turning of extra items added, one by one until the error is resolved and that would be the offending component or module to look at closer.
Let me know if this resolves your issue.1 user says Thank You to Blaine for this useful post

August 9, 2011 at 4:22 pm #405178The only browser that reports the javascript errors is Internet Explorer (and the hover effect does not work – which is what is causing the conflicts). FireFox works perfectly fine – No errors and the main menu hover effect works as it should.
Hosting details… I’m not sure what type of information you wanting to know. Can you be a little more specific? We have over a dozen different Joomla templates that we host (both 1.5 and 1.6) that function correctly, fyi.
I shut down IE – still shows errors. I rebooted my computer – still shows errors. I restarted in safe mode – still showed errors.
I agree that it must have something to do with the jquery – the javascript error comes from the hover menu effect; there is no error until I hover my mouse over the main menu items. I used IE developer tools to locate the specific areas of the problem in the mootools.js file. But as far as disabling components or modules, I have added none – at least ones that came with the JA Sulfur template. Please remember that there are no problems when viewing the website from pages accessed through the main menu – only when I view the website from pages access through the side menu. Could this stem from a configuration problem with the menu I created?

August 9, 2011 at 4:34 pm #405185You can see what I’m talking about when you click any of the menu items under the “What We Do” side menu. Then hover your mouse over the main menu items along the top. I look forward to hearing what you think! 🙂

August 9, 2011 at 5:01 pm #405187Have you updated the Joomla core yet?
Have you updated the T3 framework yet?
What version of IE are you viewing in as I am not having any issues with the main menu on my IE9.
I will try to duplicate when I see what version of IE you are using.

please try also to turn on Joomlas Mootools upgrade plugin, if You are using Joomla 1.5.23

Thank you. I completely overlooked enabling the 1.5.23 plugin. That removed the “Push is ‘null’ and not an object” error. However, it still gives me the “Invalid Argument” error.
UPDATE: I went ahead and said screw it. I have forsaken the moomenu and have gone with the css menu. No more errors. Too bad… I really liked the moo menu. lol. Thanks all for the time in replying to my problem.
