I’m testing JA Nickel and when I wrote the title of an article where I need an accent, the lettre disappear.
This is an exemple : Communication avec les employés
The letter é disappear. I try wihtout the accent and the lettre e appear.
It seems to have a problem with all the accent in french language “é, è, ç, ê” etc…
Do you have a solution for this… I supposed I’m not the only one who will use your template in french ?
March 30, 2009 at 12:53 pm #299051The danish characters æ ø å Æ Ø Å are also missing.
disabling the cufon scripts in template index.php helps.
It seems cufon and/or the fonts used by cufon are missing international characters 🙁Joomlart – > this is a real bug – not all your customers are using english-only characters !

April 8, 2009 at 12:24 am #300476Same trouble here. No portuguese characters unless I set Cufon of… then I get all the characters but also get a template that has not much to do with Nickel. We need a fix urgently as this is a template that is going to be used widely… Iwas going to change my whole site for this and now I can not. Any help?

April 8, 2009 at 2:35 am #300485Ok ppl, here is the answer… Because NeoSans is not working, just do what others did and already explained here. Get a font that you like copy it to the desktop and go to the site http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/convert.php, that others mentionned, and get the font “worked” to cufon style (or whatever, just do what they say in the site) then get the font saved to your desktop or where you keep your website fonts, and then move it to the directory where it belongs inside the template….
Now go to the template index.php, look for all the NeoSand lines (there are two, search for them…) and change the name for the font you’re using. I’ve got everything working on my test (localserver site) with portuguese signs, the whole enchilada, so it works, as long as you get an original font that already has the special characters….
done…
+please do thank me if you find this is an interesting answer.

April 8, 2009 at 10:07 am #300525Cufon again more discoveries
Well, Cufon is working for me, with two caveats: it only works with some fonts (expected) but when I use the Cufon generator (what else can one use for that?) I get the link to the site hardcoded on my webpage, on top, on the left side. it’s tiny, but it’s there and I don’t know how to get rid of it (or if I shall, can). Besides that it’s working, nicely with come fonts (it’s a trial and error operation) and not at all with others.
Any help on the link problem is welcome…

April 9, 2009 at 5:30 pm #300734some more info
I’ve posted this in another thread about the same problem but here it goes
Actually, I got a set of Aldo working perfectly on my test site (home server, sorry). Downloaded the font from the web, converted it into Cufon and have it working with all portuguese characters. guess it will work with others too. Its a Aldo_600.font but looks nice.
Still, I feel it’s a pity Joomlart sets a template and uses Cufon, setting it as an important part of the design, and the only answer they give up til now is… disable the option. For sure they could do something about it since they came all the way here and implemented it. Even if not working for all of us…
If someone need an explanation on how to get the aldo working, just email me…
have fun
My template is working, I just have a side effect: a line with a likn to the cuffon site that somehow spoils my design. But for now I can live with that…

May 4, 2009 at 9:40 pm #303520good it’s working for you. MIne is also working and misteriously the cufon credit line that was on my site is gone… So it does work. I’ve had the time to try other fonts too, and some do work, while, as I said, some just don’t… I know that this also helped a girl from Brazil to get her template working. I’ts great to have a community that keep passing hints along, it just makes it easier for everybody to get to their aims.
have fun
I guess this if ANSWERED now…

May 21, 2009 at 9:33 am #305364What about using Joomfish and having multiple languages. I Have Enlgish, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, and Japanese. How can I include more than one font and have them change accordingly when selected? Hope there is a way to work this out!
