April 14, 2008 at 1:16 am #127528hi there.
i just tested genista with the gmaps component and plugin.
it works fine with Firefox, but it doesnt work with IE.
the map contours show up, and so does the navigation, the place markers and the description
but not the map images themselves.i crosschecked by uninstalling gmaps and trying to use the googlemaps mambot instead, with the exact same results.
i hence think that the developpers are correct in referring my to joomlart in this regard…
the problem is not uncommon with templates, ive ssen it in some rockethemes too, in the past.
i have never pursued it tho until now, since usually i simply switched templates. in this case, however, i’d like to dig a little deeper.has any one had this before, or found a solution ?
any java used in genista is know to conflict in IE with the google maps API proper ?best regards and thanks
aj.

April 14, 2008 at 12:09 pm #245452hi there, thank you for your answer.
i cant, unforntunately, as its on a local environment.
but im positive this can be checked on any joomla site running the gmaps component and plugin, simply by switching the template to genista.
(same thing, just by the way, with rt_firenzie from rocket. for what its worth, here is a thread from their forum that trces the probelm to their IE6 png fix.
http://www.rockettheme.com/option,com_smf/Itemid,190/topic,10907.0/
im adding this since maybe it helps solving the matter..).else, if you msg me privately, we can agree on a time on which i do that on one of my live sites – for a (very) short while- so you can get to take a look.
i have just tested this and can confirm the effect as expected, with IE6.
would that be a good idea ?update:
as expected, the removal of the line
behavior: url("<?php echo $ja_template_path;?>/scripts/iepngfix.htc");
makes the map appear. but it also messes up the template completely. 🙁
any suggestionsbest regards

April 15, 2008 at 9:58 am #245568hi again
i noticed that ‘disabling’ the pngfix by removcing the above line also causes, besides the expected transparency issues, also a breaking of the genista template near the footer.
i figure I may ba able to remedy the transparency issue by implementing non-transparent images, but i have no answer for the breaking of the template at the bottom.what else does iepngfix.htc do that could cause this when the line is removed ?
can it be edited so only the transparency of the images is lost but the template wil not break ?thank you again, until then …
