June 5, 2009 at 6:35 pm #307076Here’s a post over at joomla.org from someone who fixed his similar problem with JA Purity template.
May be worth giving it a try.

June 5, 2009 at 6:41 pm #307077There’s also this message from a month or so ago from Hung about updating all JA templates to fix IE8 bugs.
Again — not sure if it will help, but perhaps worth a read for informational purposes.

Hay thomaskremer, how did you get on finding a fix?
I’m also having problems with IE8 and a new install of JA Rutile , installed with the quickstart.
The News drop down covers the top of my articles on the front page.
Also having crazy spacing problems.
seem to work fine when you tell ie8 to run in compatibility mode.June 6, 2009 at 11:50 am #307138@theprofessor 131684 wrote:
Here’s a post over at joomla.org from someone who fixed his similar problem with JA Purity template.

June 12, 2009 at 6:43 pm #307753Hi!
I also tried to change
<!–>into
<!–>
and also get the message in IE 8 that the website is designed for older browsers. But the thing is that the website looks hottible in older browsers, so that is not true. How can I make IE8 not say that?
Thanks!

Try the extension that mj1256 suggested. Did the trick for me.

June 12, 2009 at 8:11 pm #307759I have already innstalled that. I may have helped with IE 8.0, but not with 7.0. Is there a similar extensions to fix bugs in 7.0 and older?

June 12, 2009 at 8:12 pm #307760And also, would the extension fix the problem with IE 8.0 saying the website is made for an older version? It didn’t in my case. How could I fix that?
Thanks again

Have you tried the different settings in the extension, you get a drop down box from within the extension settings to run the site in a different modes. Give that a test.
Hope that works.

June 12, 2009 at 8:19 pm #307763Oh, I didn’t know that. Is it the one called “System – IE8 Compatibility”? If yes, it seems to have been deactivated. Do you have any tips on what to change to in the drop down menu? Could this also fix the problems I have with JA News in 7.0 you think??
