    Hi,
being a fresh newbee I’ve been trying for a few days now to load the backend of Teline IV, and it’s a marvelous template, but…..:-)
I seem not to be able to load the right part of it, like the middel.right-mass-top, middel.right1, middle.right2 and the middel.right-mass-bottom, you can see that after loggin in.
It’s specially weird, because I practised with the templatebuilder on http://ja-teline-iv-j171325342438059.joomweb.com/ , which looks very good 🙂

So you can see, “Subscribe’, ‘Photogallery and the whole right part of the template doesn’t load. The same for right above: the quote en the Rss -module, and the Headlines in the top (is that maybe a special extension?)

Please, it would be very nice if someone helped me, thank you very much :-)!

Okay . . . something didn’t upload correctly when you installed your template – else we would not be seeing that result.

Some Initial Questions (as part of the “Technical Support Investigation Process) . . . .

    1. What method did you utilize to upload/install your template?

    2. Depending on your answer to Question #1 – and while there may be other suggestions/solutions that involve digging deeper into your site configurations or directory files – if you are not far along in your site development (which it appears you are not yet), might I suggest/recommend following the steps outlined within the following QUICKSTART INSTALLATION TUTORIAL[/url]? Barring any server-side and/or permission issues, I have yet to experience any issues with successful installation utilizing this method.

I’ll look forward to hearing from you further as to how you wish to proceed.

    😎

    Thanks Tom!

Yes, I have tried installing with quickstart on a webserver, but then there were problems too. That was the reason that I first installed Joomla 1.7.3 on the server of the webhost with Installatron (installation webhost), and after that imported all the files of Teline IV, without the quickstart-one of course :-).
I unzipped the files on my computer and after that I put them with Filezilla on the webserver.
May be you can see something wrong on the server 🙂 ? And: do you advise me to delete everything there en start over with quickstart? It’s a few weeks ago I did that, but I can remember it didn’t work properly. I remember I had problems with creating mysql, yeah, that was the reason I chose installing via the webhost. Do you have any tips for me?
Would you please explain me what I have to doe exactly with quickstart-installation (f.e. how to create a mysql database), because I don’t know.
    Thanks very much!

Haven’t left yet to my NYE party, so I wanted to throw you a reply . . .

I’m wondering if there may be some database issues preventing the content from appearing
    – though it seems more like some sort of css/js conflict (maybe).

With regard to the quickstart installation and database creation – this is exactly the kind of information I tried to include (in an easy to follow way) within the QUICKSTART INSTALLATION TUTORIAL I wrote (originally for the Forum Community, but later published to our Blog for more to benefit from).

I describe how to create a database within Step 7 of the tutorial (linked above). Of course, the steps may be a bit different depending on how your particular webhost configures it’s cpanel and what abilities/access they allow their clients. May I ask who your webhost is? (please don’t tell me you’re with GoDaddy – please) :((

In any case, I’m about to head out for the evening . . . but I promise I will follow-up with you in 2012 (i.e. tomorrow 😉 ) on this matter. Let me know what you think about my additional comments and if, perhaps, you might be willing to start from scratch tot ry to get this whole thing right. I’d be happy to be your JoomlArt Guide until we get it right.

    Hope you have/had a SAFE & FESTIVE New Year’s Celebration . . . Here’s to an exciting and prosperous 2012 !!!

    Hi Tom,

Thanks again for your reply, I hope you had a nice party 🙂 Happy New Year to you too! 🙂
I think I will follow your advice about starting from scratch. This has to be right. My webhost is not GoDaddy (something wrong with this one?) but versio.nl (dutch).
But I need you to tell me, how I can remove the old installation, because I don’t like any interfering problems.:-* I’ll send a few pictures of myfiles on the server of versio, may be you would like to advise me which I should remove, and in which file exactly I should install, because the last time I did that with quick start, it didn’t work.

    Thanks again!

What you basically need to do – or request that your webhost Technical Support do for you – is wipe your entire installation clean … as if you were just starting new/fresh. This is even easier if you don’t have any other websites running within your server directory – as you can simply wipe everything clean. If you do have other websites installed and running, then ONLY wipe clean the file folder you have designated for your JA template install.

Of course, you will also need to delete the old database and create/re-create a new one.

Lastly, don’t install any “auto scripts” – like if your webhost has “fantastico” or some other “install Joomla” script.

THEN, when you’re ready to start over – follow the step-by-step guide within the tutorial I previously linked up for you
    (see Post #4).

If you have any issues/problems along the way – let me know.

I will be anxious to hear how this process turns out for you.

Also, if you DO communicate with your webhost’s Technical Support, be sure that they make sure that your permissions are set correctly – 755/644 for files/folders respectively.

    Hi Tom,

I have come till step 4.
The problem is that I cannot see the beginning of the installshield of Joomla, when navigating to my url.
What I do see is the next text:
    Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access / on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2 Server at http://www.ikben-50plus.nl Port 80
    What am I doing wrong?

Further investigation showed that the files/folders permissions are exact the opposite of what you told me: de folders have 755, the files 644.
Is there something more that I should know? Can’t find anything else I can use for now.

I know have removed the files of public_html and put them again in the same folder. I could not see if other folders are clear (enough:-)) That, I should ask de host. Till now, I still didn’t see the installation wizard of Joomla, unfortunately.

I don’t believe YOU are doing anything wrong . . . it seems more an issue with your webhost server configuration.

Ask what version PHP and MySQL your webhost has for their server accounts.

That is actually exactly what it should be – 755 for folders, 644 for files.

Thanks again, it’s really annoying this. I have sent a mail to the host with your question and a request to wipe everything (maybe also the other folders, exept public_html…) I referred also to this thread.
    I’ll let you know!

Finally, at about 1800 hrs today, I succeeded!
After reloading the files to the server, do ‘something’ with permissions (don’t exactly remember :-)) I suddenly saw the installation wizard! And I was happy and proud.

First it went a bit wrong, because I had to manage with an ‘unwritable configuration.php’,which I had to upload in the end, separately, but after one failure I managed that too, and then there was finally a little problem with images not loading in the site, but I found the solution, thanks to your outstanding forum!

Thanks again for your help and, take a look at my site;-)
    Regards >>:)
