I am working on Joomla 1.6 and with the Joomlart Portfolio template. Other pertinent info is in my header above.

Re: main menu (JA Menu) to be used on all pages.

I need to know how to create a category that appears on the front end menu (which I did) but then also to get new articles underneath that category on the frontend menu. I cannot get the category to show up on the dropdown menu when trying to use it as the parent (category) of the new articles.

The documentation has not helped me because the screen shots are different than mine. {For example the tutorial says to first create a section from the section manager – and I have no section manager.)

So if anyone can tell me how to find that information, I would be most grateful.

To do that, you use mod_jabulletin. You create a mod_jabulletin module. After that, you create a menu item (type: separator), set Submenu Content is module and Select Modules is the mod_jabulletin module you have created.

Thank you for your reply. I really do not follow what you have said above; I am just a beginner. I am working with the Portfolio template that has a sample site. I did not create a module but rather used the sample already there.

I seem to have solved it by trial and error and hope it is OK. It seems to work. I did it creating an article category, then articles using that category. Then I created menu items (type: category list & single articles) using that category & articles just created. It works. I did nothing with mods. But it shows up on the main menu, with child articles & when clicked it goes to the pages I created.
