Hello, i just wanted to tell everybody that I had the same problem (white rectangle over shopping cart) and I solved it by turning off Ajax in the shop configuration as described in the VM Forum here
Changing the minicart.tpl.php didn’t solve the problem, btw.

This fix also didn’t work for me. I did find a fix that worked with Ajax Cart in the Virtuemart.net forums. Hope it works for you.
