Hello,
The Contact Form (Contact US>Contact Form) in my site is not working properly. The form validates the info (i.e. it displays an error if there is missing info) and after you click the “Submit” button the “Thank you for your email” message is display but the actual email is never send, neither to the admin nor the self copy to sender.
Could you please help?
Thanks
d

February 8, 2012 at 5:07 am #437507Hello pascm,
Thank you for your prompt response. Unfortunately this was not the problem. I changed my Mailer settings to SMTP with and without authentication but still no change. The events after submitting the form were the same (i.e. everything seems to work but the actual email was never received)
Cheers
D
February 9, 2012 at 3:26 pm #437715Hi pascm,
Is there any alternative solution to this problem? Do I need to talk with my hosting provider? If so, what I do I need to tell/ask them?
Thanks
D

February 14, 2012 at 4:31 pm #438319Hi,
You can use an other email provider to test if everything works fine for your installation, you can utilize a gmail account, here is what you have to to in order to achieve that.
You need to use the following settings to use gmail as the Joomla email server.
Go to Global configuration > Server
You need to change some options in the “Mail Settings” section.
- Set “Mailer” to SMTP Server.
- “Mail From” will be your-user@gmail.com.
- Set “From Name” to whatever you want. E.g. JA Forums, or whatever
- “Sendmail Path” requires no changes.
- Set “SMTP Authentication” to yes.
- “SMTP Username” will again be your-user@gmail.com.
- “SMTP Password” will be yourpassword
- “SMTP Host” is gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com
Please let me know if that helps you, in case this is working then the issue is with your host.

March 1, 2012 at 8:19 am #441053Hi Pascm,
I am having a similar problem with two installations of your templates i.e. Ja_Events-Joomla version 1.7.0 and Ja_Business-Version 1.7.2.
I have tried all of the above changes you suggest yet still I am not receiving any mail. I have checked my junk mail as well.
I’ts strange as all Joomla 1.5 sites work fine submitting mails but not the 2 I am building in 1.7.Do you perhaps have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

March 1, 2012 at 9:53 am #441073Hi Pascm,
well I fixed the issue by installing a third party component which works fine and setting mail to phpMail.
Sitll strange that the standard Joomla 1.7 contact form does not work. -
