I am trying to upload the Docman extension component com_docman_1.4.0rc1 into my JA Senecio, and I I only get an error message stating “Error determining version”. The files are transferred to my server, but not visible in the components menu. I have no problems with the modules and mambot, but cannot use Docman without the component. Anything to do with the template?

No i would not say that, try to set it to the original template that comes with joomla and try then.
Remember to delete the docman files that is on your server before try to install on new.

It works with another template, and I have deleted all files from the server…

Hmmmm, if you get it installed with another template, it should be installed and working. Do you see the docman menu under components now with another template? If you change to Senecio is it gone then?
