Is there a protocol to establish a production and development environment?

Currently, i am doing development under http://www.circlesurveillance.com/joomla.

I want to move that to under http://www.circlesurveillance.com and still maintain http://www.circlesurveillance.com/joomla for development. How do I accomplish that?

    thanks in advance

Install Joomla in the site root (site.com) and establish a secondary directory (site.com/dev) with Joomla installed. they will operate independent of each other. if you need help your hosting provider should be able to assist you. Most quality hosting providers make this a standard as a service.

Also, are you using Firefox with the Firebug extension to help solve design problems and source code acquisition?

Donate credits and mark as “best answer” if this post helped you. Thank you and Good Luck!

I would use an extension called joomlapack

This is a very easy backup utility for Joomla that I use to mirror sites for development purposes.

When installing do not forget to make yourself a separate database for your live site. This way you could leave your “development” site in tact.
