The product slide module mod_ja_vmproductslide will cycle through products in 3 different ways.
1.) All Products
2.) Latest Products
3.) Special Products
It will also choose products from the category of your choice. Go to extensions => Module Manager => Mod_ja_vmproduct slide
Once there under Module Parameters => Category choose the category you would like the module to show. You say you have the same product in multiple categories you should edit the “category” to cut down on products repeating themselves.
