    Currently Profile Override Settings allow you to assign a profile to a menu item, etc. I would like to perform the same on a single article (i.e. from the slideshow set). Can I do this? Thanks for the answer.

    Hi,

    I’m not sure about your question, but if you want to chantge profile for 1 single article page, you can create 1 menu for that article and assign a profile for it

    Regards

    I think you got my point. That was my next attempt actually!

    I have created a new Layout by cloning the Default one. I have made some changes on the middle section only.
    Default:
    <blocks name=”middle” colwidth=”22″>
    <block name=”content-mass-top” style=”jaraw”>content-mass-top</block>
    <block name=”content-top” type=”spotlight”>user1,user2,user3</block>
    <block name=”content-bottom”>bottom</block>
    <block name=”inset2″>left</block>
    <block name=”right2″>right</block>
    <block name=”content-mass-bottom”>content-mass-bottom</block>
    </blocks>

    New Layout:
    <blocks name=”middle” colwidth=”22″>
    <block name=”content-mass-top” style=”jaraw”>content-mass-top</block>
    <block name=”content-top” type=”spotlight”>user1,user2,user3</block>
    <block name=”content-bottom”>bottom</block>
    <block name=”right1″>left</block>
    <block name=”right2″>right</block>
    <block name=”content-mass-bottom”>content-mass-bottom</block>
    </blocks>

    Following this I have cloned the default profile and in the new profile I simply changed the Desktop Layout option to the newly created layout. However I am facing several problems now which seem quite critical:

    (a) First of all I am trying to open the new Profile and the options do not work, firebug gives the following error:
    obj is null
    …/plugins/system/jat3/core/admin/assets/js/jat3.js
    Line 773

    (b) On the Profile Override Settings, I select the page but when trying to select the profile the following error occurs:
    obj is null
    …/plugins/system/jat3/core/admin/assets/js/japageidsettings.js
    Line 73

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated since the situation seems critical. Thanks

    I’m missing your idea here, you said you change something in Profile, then you can’t open it ?
    Can you explain more detail ?

    Hi nguoiabcd. Thanks for the response. Regardless of the previous post, while attempting to follow your suggestion, I have proceeded in the steps I have mentioned above. As a result, I have not managed to fulfill the process, due to the errors I have mentioned. Therefore I am now stuck with this problem!

    A similar post is described here (exactly my problem). However, I have tried the files provided and it didn’t work: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/globals-profiles/

    Apparently the above solution works fine for Chrome, but the problem still remains in Firefox 5. Any fix for this?

    And finally, after testing it with Chrome I can see now that the New Profile works well with a menu item, but NOT with a slideshow item. I have created a new menu called “Slideshow Menu”. Inside this menu I have placed a new Article that is pointing to the original Slideshow item. However the new article has id=196 while the original item has id=159. And while the Profiles and Layouts manager works with IDs it is impossible to catch the correct item. So your original proposal is not working. Any other ideas?

    I am updating this post as I go along. Having done more tests, I can see now that the profile/layout customization does not work with the type of Articles » Article. It works fine on components or Articles » Category, but not on a single article. So in essence even if your idea works, since the slideshow item is a single article it still would have the same affect regardless of the item id I mentioned above.
