March 4, 2010 at 7:40 pm #334884I’m having the same problem, verrrrrrrrrry slow opening the layout source PSD files. I can’t speak for the JA Labra file, but I’ve experienced it with other template PSDs. Just today I tried opening the layout PSD for JA Rasite – same problem. Photoshop just hung and hung and after five minutes took down my whole computer. I’m running Windows XP and Photoshop CS1. This PSD was about 20Mb in size, but I work with Photoshop files of that size and larger quite often without issues. Is it a matter of the hundreds of layers in these PSDs? Compatibility from CS2 to CS1? I don’t know.
I tried the above suggestion and downloaded GIMP. It opened the same PSD almost instantly, so I don’t think it’s an issue with my computer’s RAM. I resaved it from GIMP and tried to re-open in Photoshop – again, it took foreverrrrrrrrrr…but it did open after a minute or so.
Any other suggestions to remedy this annoyance? Maybe it’s time to learn GIMP.
