Hi
I checked your site and noticed the article with id 15 and 16 that are associated with the home menu were unpublished, this is the reason homepage was giving 404 error.
For other questions like how to configure the template and slideshow module, I suggest you to take a look at the documentation and follow the steps given on it to make sire like the demo.
