I would like to buy a “JA Developer Membership “, but first I would like to know what is the case when I sell the customer to a website with one of the JA templates. Then I sign the domain of the client, but when I do not want to renew the membership for another year. Is the client can change the name of your domain? Is he may use the domain name, only that which is registered. Sorry for my English.

May 12, 2009 at 3:30 pm #304437Hello,
I’m not 100% sure on this but I think the template would have to stay with the original domain if your membership runs out. But as long as you are a member you can add the new domain at any time. I’m sure that if I’m wrong a staff member will correct me.1 user says Thank You to instantinlaw for this useful post
May 12, 2009 at 8:56 pm #304462Can someone help me? It’s important to me because I would rather not have a situation that it would cease to pay, and the client will not be able to change the domain. If this is not possible, how to deal with? Do you write a separate agreement, in which it is concluded that the client can not change the domain?

Hi there,When you use the JA template on the site for your client, the domain you use the template on will need to be registered with JA.
However, if your client later decides to change the domain name, this new domain name will no longer be registered with JA as it is not in the JA Domain License system.
Therefore, to use it with a different domain name, you need to register it – this may mean buying another subscription (be it 3 month or 1 year standard package) in order to register it.
Therefore, you can only use the JA template on a registered domain – so if you change the domain name, you need to register that too to use it legally.

May 12, 2009 at 9:27 pm #304465Thank you very much for a comprehensive response. Personally, I consider that the terms of the license are wrong, because when a customer buys a website, it becomes its owner. Domains are added frequently, the more they are becoming cheaper. And I do not know whether I will continue for years wanted to be in the club. And I would like to be in the order to the customer and jomalart.
Do you write an additional contract with the client, on which it is written that he can not add domains?hanifahmed Friendhanifahmed

No, there is no additional contracts. You are not licensing the domain, you are licensing the use of the template ON the domain, therefore JA needs to know which domain you are using it on. It is a way of keeping a track on where their products are being used, therefore if a customer asks for support, they can tell if they have paid for their template or not – the same reason why Norton and other companies provide License Keys.
You might be able to adjust the name of a registered domain by submitting a request to support, but there’s no guarantees that they will perform the change for you though.

May 13, 2009 at 4:57 am #304482Thank you hanifahmed for your clear answers.
@ indegopl. Thank you very much for your questions, I would like to summary as follows:
1. The license of JA template for your customer domains are life-time. You can decide whether to renew your membership or not. The renew decision are made from the benefits of getting new templates, new products or product updates.
2. Changing the registered domains can be understood as the request of transferred domain license, in order to do this, you must have active membership status. And the domain license transfer,as well as premium support, product updates are the privileges & benefit of membership renewal. Furthermore, normally you have at least 30% discount for all of your renewal.
Kindly let me know if you have any other questions.
