Not sure if I am posting in the right area… if I am not …please forgive me.
I am working in with ja_antares and installed the quickstart version on my laptop for testing.
Once it was installed I went to the front page and it looks nothing like the sample site icon that is listed in the Template Manager….The attachment is what I was expecting and what I see is entirely different… can someone please tell me what I need to do so I may have the look of the default image?
Hope that made sense.

If you are using Joomla 1.5x-(any)JA Template QuickStart Kit, there is a step in the browser-based installation where it asked you whether you want to install the sample data. You are supposed to click that.
In the Joomla 1.0x-(any)JA Template QuickStart Kit, the default is yes; so unless you uncheck the box in Joomla 1.0x, going to the next step will automatically install sample data. This is not the case with Joomla 1.5x-(any)JA Template QuickStart Kit — you have to make the decision to click it, otherwise it will not install the Sample data.
If I remember correctly the aforementioned query is the same step when you are entering the username, password, full database name; just below (?) the above. I make the same mistake sometimes.
The best bet is just to start anew and do another QuickStart installation. Just make sure you read each page step carefully.

I am glad for you spikestik,
Could you do us a favor, can you please clarify exactly what worked? And why you think you did not get the sample data last time? This will help others (especially new users) to avoid similar problems, in the future.

June 21, 2008 at 3:16 am #255103Here is the solution….:
With the help of the community and some hunting and pecking…..I found that during the install
at the point you are asked for the site name / Email address / admin password…
you need to select INSTALL SAMPLE DATA…. This is the key to getting the Quickstart site
installed with the information and layout that you see on the JA Template Site.
I hope this helps you from the pitfalls that I ran into.

Yes, that is what I thought it was, as I speculated above.
