I just downloaded and the quickstart wont install, after we enter the database name, user, password and click instal, it just shows the install page but no progress.

    Screen shot attached.

Just downloaded JA Charity Quickstart version, tried to install on my MAMP server, brand new database. Things seemed to install, but then things crashed with a very long string. Here is the beginning of that string:

    Duplicate entry ‘1-84-???’ for key ‘state_3_code’ SQL=INSERT INTO `wk4ft_virtuemart_states` (`virtuemart_state_id`, `virtuemart_vendor_id`, `virtuemart_country_id`, `virtuemart_worldzone_id`, `state_name`, `state_3_code`, `state_2_code`, `ordering`, `shared`, `published`, `created_on`, `created_by`, `modified_on`, `modified_by`, `locked_on`, `locked_by`) VALUES (390, 1, 10, 0, ‘San Juan’, ‘SJN’, ‘SJ’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (391, 1, 10, 0, ‘San Luis’, ‘SLU’, ‘SL’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (392, 1, 10, 0, ‘Santa Cruz’, ‘SCZ’, ‘SC’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (393, 1, 10, 0, ‘Santa Fe’, ‘SFE’, ‘SF’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (394, 1, 10, 0, ‘Santiago Del Estero’, ‘SEN’, ‘SE’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (395, 1, 10, 0, ‘Tierra Del Fuego’, ‘TFE’, ‘TF’, 0, 0, 1, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0, ‘0000-00-00 00:00:00’, 0), (396, 1, 10, 0, ‘Tucuman’, ‘TUC’, ‘TU’, 0, 0, 1,

Hmmm, re-downloaded the entire JA Charity package this time (last time downloaded just the quickstart), deleted the old database, created a new one (explicitly set the coallation to utf16_general_ci this time) and the install went without a problem. Made no changes to the MAMP setup at all, so not sure what allowed it to go successfully. First time, I did not set an explicit coallation, so the DB was created as latin1_swedish_ci. But, that setting has worked with JA quickstarts in the past. Oh well, it’s working for me now, so onward.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Me again…I’m a little concerned that my brand new database is already pre-populated with six users that are not part of my system. It’s not issue on my localhost install, but certainly makes me question the security of this install on a public server. At least they are only Registered users and do not have enhanced access.

If this is standard with a JA template, could you please direct me to a post that explains who these folks are and why they should have accounts on my install? For troubleshooting?

    Hi there
In basic i do never install XAMPP / WAMP !
For windows i install PHP / Apache / MySQL by separate and config each one step by step.
    By this way:
    – We always have latest version of each one
    – Know and understand well about each one

For Ubuntu you can do same thing via Synaptic.

    Thank you,
    Viet Vu
