November 17, 2011 at 12:57 am #170778Hi guys,
I tried to upload the Tiris template using the very comprehensive guide in this forum. When I deleted the installation file it didn’t matter what I clicked on the home page the site always came up as the normal joomla home page.
I posted yesterday and Parvit responded very quickly and suggested I try again. I uploaded it again overnight, which takes a long time. Again the same thing happened.
When I logged in to the admin section and went in the template section I note that there is no mention of the new template.
Would really appreciate it if someone could take a look and help me.
Kind regards,
Jim

November 17, 2011 at 3:08 am #424996Hi Jim
Post this in the JA Tiris forum please, It will then attract other JA Tiris users who may have similar experiences and could helpOk. I can’t see that loading a zipped Quickstart to your server would take a long time it’s only about 15 mb in size
Bear with me while I explain how I install a Quickstart to the host. if you have followed this method it should work.
When you downloaded the JA Tiris files, did you just select and download the first file on the list ( JA Tiris QS) or did you tick every item. I ask as ticking all boxes downloads more than just the QS. (Quickstart)
I download just the QS. I then use my FTP to upload that zipped quickstart to a new folder on my host. Takes about 2 minutes at moderate broadband speeds.
I then log in to my control panel at my host and use the file manager there to expand the zip takes about 15 seconds!
I use my phpadmin to create the db and then loginto the site url and run the installer, ensuring I include sample data.
always works for me.
If it takes all night to upload then you have server issues. do NOT expand the zip and upload all individual filesShane

November 18, 2011 at 6:57 am #425177Hi Tom,
Yes and it was all good until i deleted the installation files and then it just went to the joomla defualt website. I have tried uploading it again but does not seem to help and still in the template manager there is no mention of the template. I send a separate post to the help desk asking for any suggestions and giving them all my login info. Hopefully will hear back today as wanted to work on the site over the weekend.

Okay, as do I .. . so I know for a fact that installing any JATC Template quickstart is an absolute breeze. In fact, most of the images I utilized for the QUICKSTART TUTORIAL[/url] I grabbed from my own Bluehost account while performing a quickstart installation.
So, I’m thinking what you need to do is wipe the slate clean (for this template install) and start with a new/empty folder (whether it’s your primary site or a subdomain) and a fresh/clean database and follow the steps within the tutorial. I know for a fact it works – as I’ve done it many times.
