June 26, 2008 at 5:23 pm #130188I have read several times through this forum “install quickstart” as the magic solution for the problems we face installing and customizing JA Teline II.
I am more than concerned about that, because, for many of us, who have a website up and running, installing a database is not a solution to our problems.
I will really appreciate from JA Administration concrete answers to our questions and/or a clean template with the recommendations discussed here.
The dirty work is already done by good members of this forum. Someone needs to collect the information and correct the template skeleton as a customer service initiative.
Cordially,

June 27, 2008 at 6:47 am #256616Hi
I accept with you, Quickstart isnot a quick solution, but with a new bie in joomla, after he install quickstart, he can learn so much about template, module, content,…June 27, 2008 at 7:41 am #256634I have to agree with you nguoiabcd. since I am new to Joomla the Quickstart is perfect for me. Since I am just testing Joomla and this template on a temporary domain before I go “live” with a new site, the quickstart makes it possible to learn how to use the modules, add content, sections and category correctly. It is a great help for me!
But I can understand that you experienced members and users could need more feedback from JA.
Best regards

We should think of what quickstart is. it’s theSTART for joomla newbe.
with it a total non expert joomla user can approach this cms with a final good result, and study it to start understanding joomla. But there are many levels of newbes and of expert user…
So i partially agree with anaivelisse. i think rigth answer procedure should be:
1) first answer -> have u installed quickstart for a first looking?
2) if quickstart do not lead to a real solution, then, moderators or joomlart.com staff should give a more precise answer.cinthiapolanco Friendcinthiapolanco

Cinthia.

Hi gaygiorgia-
If you talk about politeness in this forum, please do not yell at other members of this group. That’s offensive.
Thank you.

yo hablo y entiendo espanol bastante…
…but, i repeat: this is an international forum, and u have to write in an international language: english. If u want be polite. The point is this. If u write in your own language not all can understand…
Yes, it’s a your right write in your preferred language but if u do so, not all understand. It’s not a racism question 🙂besitos

You mean you wrote a phrase, not a sentence…

July 6, 2008 at 9:51 pm #258202Hi gaygiorgia.
This came about because in one thread, there was a French guy who came for help. Of course, I did not understand him. And he did not understand my poor English either. Fortunately, there was an English guy, Chris, who understood French, since he lived there for many years.
So, Chris became our translator. And through that, started perhaps the longest thread here in JA Teline II. Then, Ana saw what we were doing, and liked it. So, she translated the English tutorial to Spanish.
We all wish everyone speaks English very well, but that is not the world we live in. As you can see, many of us communicating here may have some difficulty with the English language. I myself am a Filipino, so English is not my native tongue. Similarly, you will notice that some of the Moderators here could barely express themselves, but they are trying. Nonetheless, if they speak in Chinese or Vietnamese they could express themselves better.
I have a friend from Malaysia who is like that. He is very gifted, gets good grades in math, and the science part of his GRE, but his English score is barely passing, so he could not get to the prestigious schools here in the US — which is too bad, because otherwise, he could express himself well enough and in other ways.
Sometimes I find it difficult to express myself. I am sure that there are others who have more difficulty than I do, especially when it is technical — so to understand each other bettter, they have to speak in the language that they are most comfortable with.
Sure, it would be nice if someone translates what has been posted but that is a lot of work, and Joomlart is not going to go there.
The issue becomes, should we try to become good English writers to communicate properly, or should we deal with the issues that confront us most in this forum.
So, that is where we are here.
Cornelio

July 6, 2008 at 10:02 pm #258204I am one of the proponents that new users must always start with the QuickStart kit. In fact, even if I know how to do it sequentially, when I was installing Gavick Templates, I had to do it the hard way — Joomla, then the Gavick template, then the Demo data, which erases the admin staff. It is a waste of 30-40 minutes of my time.
With Joomlart QuickStart kit, it takes me 5 minutes tops with Joomla 1.0x. And, about 12-20 minutes with the Joomla 1.5.x
So, why do I recommend people to “Begin anew!” as I tilled some of my postings? It is because quite often what was messed up, based from the errors posted are not really errors, but issues that come with being a new user.
So, by starting all over again — they will know that if they following the simple procedure, they can actually install at least the Demo.
I call it the psychological booster. It gives you confidence to move on.
Of course, with the issues in the Joomla1.5x-JA Teline II, that may be the highlight.:)
