How do I install the quickstart provided with JA Opal template?
Where can I find detailed instructions and tutorials for installing these templates and extensions that come along with these templates?
    Please help.

    Hi,

Unzip the downloaded ja_opal_for_joomla_1.5.v1.0.zip. You will get three folder namely Extensions, Quickstart, Template.

    To install quickstart :

    1. open the Quickstart folder >> qs_j159_ja_opal.zip (this file is as good as joomla 1.5.9 installation package).
    2. Upload the folder to your server, unzip it, the run the installer from by pointing your broswer to unzipped folder.
    3. Follow the step by step online installation guide.
    4. Dont forget to click on “Install Sample Data“. That will give you Ja Opal as it is in Demo.

To just install the template in already installed Joomla 1.5.9:

Open the Templates folder>> tpl_opal_j15.zip. Install this file through Extensions>> install/uninstall option.

Don’t forget that you also have to install any module that is included in the package under folder “extensions” when you may install the template alone.

Glad it worked. Its quite simple and google search will provide you much better answers to joomla general questions. In quickstart setup the only thing that is important is to hit the load sample data.

    Cheers.

I want to add Just a template to an already existing site. I have followed the instructions as close as I can and fail at step 2:

I have dowloaded the package as described in step 1 of the user guide and then at :
Step 2: Install and configure the template (using zipped file in “Template” folder):
all I get is “unknown archive type”.. This is happening for all the modules aswell as the template.
    ….what am I doing wrong….?

I’m new to this forum,so I hope I’m in the right place

which template exactly are you trying to install?

next time, try to start your own thread. this thread has already been marked as answered and will not get attention from many of the mods/helpers in the forum

    I’m new to forums. apologise.

I have tried to load both opal and trona.

I am using the extension manager from Joomla back end – I am going to the extension folder of the package and then get the error mentioned.

    no worries.

firstly, which version of joomla are you using? make sure you install using the correct version.

if using correct version (taking opal as example)

you should have downloaded the file ja_opal_for_joomla_1.5.v1.0.zip (asuming you are using joomla 1.5)
open/unzip the file and you should have 3 folders namely: Templates, quickstart and Extensions.

to install the template to exisiting joomla, the file you need can be found in the Templates folder. The file name is tpl_opal_j15.zip.

go to your joomla admin control panel -> extensions -> install/ uninstall.
under “package file”, browse to wherever you unzipped tpl_opal_j15.zip.
    click upload and install

managed to install the template using the steps as described on your server. not sure what you did wrong but you were probably not uploading the correct file.
