Hi just to make sure that I am doing the right thing the quickstart package installs the sample data that can be seen from the demo template?

The quickstart demo says the following “Start installation by typing your URL to the quickstart that you have extracted (uploaded)” what does this mean?

I have installed the quickstart before but it hasn’t worked, on the top level on my webspace I have quite a lot of folders access-logs, etc, mail, public_ftp, public_html, tmp and www. When I uploaded the quickstart files i done it to the www folder is that correct?

Thanks soooooo very much for help…i hope

    Hi orchard,

With the QUICKSTART after you unZIP it to your harddrive…you then simply upload the contents of the folder to your server. Once it’s there…you navigate to it via a browser to:

http://www.YOURSITE.com/ (or whereever you have uploaded it to)

You should then see an Joomla Install screen that will walk you through the installation process. Have you gotten this far?

some hosts have their own setup, but you should be uploading to the public_html folder

Hi thanks for your replies I installed the quickstart files into a folder on the top level called “quickstart” but i get an error message as so

    “Not Found
The requested URL /quickstart was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. “

and well here is a link to it for you http://www.orchardcountyenterprises.com/quickstart

Its really quite simple and is the saame for all JA templates

    1. Unzip the quickstart zip file

    2. Look at the unzipped folders and you see one which says ” JA Mesolite Quickstart…..zip ”

3.Select the above folder and again unzip. Now you should see unzipped folder called Mesolite Quickstart.Click on it and you should see the standard Joomla flders like administrator, cache etc .This is the folder you need.

    3. Rename to whatever name you want and then copy into your public html or www folder.

    4. Then you go to your browser and sellect this folder and click on it . Then folow the isntructions but just make sure you install the sample JA Mesolite quickstart files so that your initial site will just look like JA”s Mesolite demo.

    Hope this helps.

Its best you try this on a localhost running XAMP,WAMP etc and then only host it somewhere on the Internet.

Ok well two questions about them instructions when i paste it into the public_html folder do i paste all the files eg administrator within the quickstart folder r do i paste the files straight into the public_html folder so that it then comes up would you like to replace these files?

    Hope that make sense…

Secondly in point four it says “4. Then you go to your browser and sellect this folder and click on it .” ok well my domain is http://www.orchardcountyenterprises.com so to locate the folder should i type http://www.orchardcountyenterprises.com/public_html/quickstart ????

    Hi Orchard

This is JA’s instructions to installinga quickstart :

    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-install-joomlart-quickstart/

Regarding what files to install ….you unzip and install the whole quickstart folder ( it includes all the Joomla files plus JA’s files and folders )
Then go to your browser and identify the quickstart folder and click on it …the just follow the Joomla installation instructions

If you dont have experienec on all these, it may better for you to try and get some experience doing it it on your PC ( localhost )
