Ive installed JA Mendozite using xampp 1.8.1 and Joomla 2.5.8. Its a local install.

but for some reason the slide show does not display. In the back end it says its published and set to display on the homepage and the images (ive left them as the default holding images) are in the correct folders. (its a default quick installation so i haven’t yet touched anything)

Also the menu does not work. eg I do not see the drop down after hovering over a menu item.

Its like the menu and the slideshow modules are not installed (but they are)

here is a screenshot of what i see.

    assistance please

    Hi

Would be better if you publish your website on a web server, in this way we can better assist you on this issue

I have your same configuration xampp and joomla on my localhost and it’s working fine,

So it’s very difficult to understand what’s wrong in your configuration.

    Hi Pavit

Thanks for responding. I cant publish on a web server currently.

If you have exactly the same config as me then I must be doing something wrong with the installation.

    What I am doing

    1. download xampp + joomla +JA mendozite quickstart (just this file, im not downloading any templates or module files. )
    2. Install xampp 1.8.1 using installer
    3. add database and a all privileges user using my php admin
    4. Extract and copy the JA Mendozite quickstart to httdocs
    5. navigate to localhost/JaMedonzite
    6. Run through the joomla install that comes up. (joomla checklist is all green and the only thing that comes up red on the secondary myphp check list is that i have show errors enabled and buffer something)
    7. the install runs fine eg i can connect to the database and its all smooth til the end. I then install the sample data and delete the joomla install files (using the button).
    9. navigate to the site and it shows up like the screenshot 🙁

what am i doing wrong ? I tried navigating to the site using IE and Firefox and both come up with no slideshow and no megamenu. I tried enabling the module title to just see if the modules were atleast active but that doesn’t show up either. Ive tried clearing the JAT3 cache.

it feels like a bug or incompatibility with latest joomla version.. but if you have no issue with yours.. and no one else is having problems then it must be an issue with my install but what !!

    Hi

<blockquote>3. add database and a all privileges user using my php admin</blockquote>

You don’t need to add the database mysql runs with user root and no password so when you install mendozite quickstart, Joomla create a new database with the name that you will give

    Host Name = localhost
    User Name = root
    Password = leave empty
Database Name = Give a name to your DB

So your steps are all corrects except for the database settings

    Try again

    thanks for your help pavit.

I will try again tomorrow and post back. fingers crossed.

on a side note why would it matter if I’m connecting to the db using a different all privileges user account? should it not be the same as connecting using root?

I’ve tried the root user method. did complete reinstall just using quickstart installer.(installed xampp first obviously)

have same problem. this feels like a bug or compatibility issue.

just tried xampp 1.7.3. same issue.

could you do me a favor and try downloading the quickstart and installing. (in case their has been a update to quickstart in last few weeks and it has broken something )

    Hi

I have installed the quickstart for Ja_Mendozite and everything worked fine

At this point i think you need to find a webserver to install it and check logs file to find where eventually the errors come up ,only in this way we can help with your issue
