December 12, 2009 at 6:17 pm #146799Hi,
We created a new e-commerce site with this template about 6-9 months ago. I have read on here that fixes were created and that one has to re-install the template. Since this was installed with quick-start, we are not sure if we must uninstall the template then re-install as normal. Our concern is the graphics and images and menu items, etc., have all been customized in this template. What happens when we uninstall and re-install with all those mods and changes?
Second: The Featured Product module (vmfp) doesn’t show anymore. It is enabled and nothing has changed on this site other than upgrading Joomla itself to the current versions. Could this have caused it?
Third: When you select a category in the store/virtue-mart front end, another module is displayed in the top left column that is an ‘on this page’ module which seems to be a menu of sorts? We cannot seem to turn it off?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

– “What happens when we uninstall and re-install with all those mods and changes?”
If you have not ever customized any php codes and css in this template, you can install and un-install the template without any problem.
I think that to complete this task: you should back up the current template, and then upgrade the current template via FTP or via un-install and install the new template. The next step, you use a compare tool (such as the Beyond compare 3 software) to compare the difference between all files in those templates and move differences from the current template to the new template.
Second: The Featured Product module (vmfp) doesn’t show anymore. It is enabled and nothing has changed on this site other than upgrading Joomla itself to the current versions. Could this have caused it?
That’s a difficulty to give you my solutions to resovle if i have not a closer look on the issue, i need check which files were upgraded and had anything missing in the joomla upgrading?
Third: When you select a category in the store/virtue-mart front end, another module is displayed in the top left column that is an ‘on this page’ module which seems to be a menu of sorts? We cannot seem to turn it off?
As our demo, You can see the “shop” menu in the top menu, it is using for make a link to the main shop page.
In the “Categories” box (which display on the left of the site), all menu items were related to the “shop” menu, so That you only turn on or off the module via the “shop” menu -
