We are using Windows 2003 and having problems with mod re-writer and enabeling SEF, We’ve tried all components but non woked, we need to find a solution for our long and cluttered url’s at the end of the domains with search engine friendlier onece.

Any suggestions or help…..:-*

are you referring to windows 2003 “SERVER”

mod rewrite is linux and the joomla programs do this through the htaccess file.

no htaccess files on a windows setup

You are right, we have tried that and it did not work for some reason not unless we buy into an expensive mods

Joomla is a LAMP stack based CMS, (lamp stands for Linux, Apache, PHP, MySql) although some people get basic sites to work on windows, once you get beyond the basic site you run into these issues. If you could move to a linux box, you mod rewrites would literally take minutes to set up.

In order to do the url rewrites you need to get a module for IIS, but if you have modified your IIS setup for your joomla site to run, i doubt that those would work out of the box, and they can be expensive

As we had other applications on our server that needs Windows we had no other choice.

I am runnung another Joomla site in linux and its fine no problems with that.
