    Hello,

    At the bottom of my site I see these articles in “Recommended for you” by addthis but they show no image. http://going-natural.com/jfixel/. Is there a setting I need to change to show thumbnails?

    Hi simplesite,

    The Smart Layers is a brand new feature of Add This application which already came to existence 2 months ago, i’m still not sure their scripts will work fine with Joomla element or not. So, can you try to test this Smart Layers embed codes with Joomla default template ?

    In addition, I see that the AddThis recommendation box is showing the related menu item link of website which doesn’t include the intro image, so that It is quitely hard to confirm that it wil display the image in recommendation box.

    Sorry, I am afraid to mess with template code. I checked it out but I am afraid I won’t be able to fix it when something goes bad. Right now I am focusing on going live.

    I tested this by adding an image to a menu but nothing changed. I think the intro image of the article should show.

    Hi simplesite,

    I have spent time to test again these Smart layer embed codes of AddThis on fresh Joomla installation (Beez_20 – Default template), i got the same appearance of the suggestional box with any images. So that in this case, I suggest you to raise a question on AddThis support forum for better solution at http://support.addthis.com/customer/portal/questions/new.

    Here are the same embed codes in put into Beez_20 template’s file:

    <!-- AddThis Smart Layers BEGIN -->
    <!-- Go to http://www.addthis.com/get/smart-layers to customize -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-5166154136849f93"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    addthis.layers({
    'theme' : 'transparent',
    'share' : {
    'position' : 'left',
    'numPreferredServices' : 5
    },
    'whatsnext' : {},
    'recommended' : {}
    });
    </script>
    <!-- AddThis Smart Layers END -->

    The result:

    I got an answer on my question but I am not sure how/where to implement this. I also don’t want to clutter my <meta tags> because of SEO: Can you give me pointers:

    Hi simplesite,

    If you don’t want to mess your <meta> tags, you can put the embed codes into Injection boxes in Template Manager >> JA_Fixel_style.

    For further investigation of Smart Layers, again I suggest you to contact with AddThis developer for better support. I saw in your shared post, the developer fixed directly on user’s website. They know about their products better than us, they can help you better.

    Ok, I will. One last question, will the injection affect SEO?

    Hi simplesite,

    It will be up to the content you input into the Injection. Since, we always suggest users to insert their scripts of API applications (AddThis, Google analytics) and the <meta> keyword/descriptions in some cases. Generally, they will support the SEO performance rather than harming it.

    How do I put it in the <meta descriptions> then?

    Hi,

    There are two method to add the <meta> descriptions i want to mention you:

    1. You can change the description in Metadata Options in the backend of Home menu item.

    2. You can put the meta description tags into Injection of JA_Fixel_style (i.e) with after <head> box is prefered:

    i.e

    <meta name=”description” content=”Responsive business ecommerce template for Joomla! 2.5 & 3.1 – JA Fixel featuring jshopping. Innovative design with Grid view and powerful extensions.” />
