    Hi,

I’ve just launched an upgraded version of my site with the JA MAGZ template. I’ve done many optimizations to reduce the load time of the website and make it faster, but now I’ve hit a wall. The JA MAGZ template seems to generate a huge amount of requests, in fact it includes a very large number of CSS, images, JS etc which is causing the load time to increase drastically.

It is not just the JA MAGZ, but also the T3 plugin in general which generates a lot of requests.

Is there some way I can make the template/T3 lighter and not generate so many requests? Many of the requests are not coming from images I’ve added, on the contrary they are coming directly from the template.

    TIA

    David

    Hi David,

Actually, reducing the loading time and improving the website performance is a broad concern of many template providers. I saw that you did optimize your website well by using a css optimizer plugin (JCH Optimize plugin).

Even though, we have no specific guide on this, I just want to share some tips as follows:

    – Remove all sample data content from quickstart installation that you do not use.
    – Uninstall the unnecessary extensions

A good news is that our development team will include the JS compressor to T3 in the next update. That way helps reduce the .js file requests from the template and T3 plugin.

I already have no extra extensions. It is T3 + JA MAGZ which is generating the most downloads. When is the next update expected please?

I’ve enabled compression and minification already using JCH optimize. Now I need some guidance on which js files I can combine and which ones I need to avoid combining to ensure the template keeps working well.

Give me some detailed instructions please, I can handle it.

@ David, I am not in a position to confirm on the time of new T3 update with JS optimize option. We will have public announcement on this via our blog once the update is available.

<blockquote>Now I need some guidance on which js files I can combine and which ones I need to avoid combining to ensure the template keeps working well.</blockquote>

Generally, the template performs properly when you combines all .js files in our T3 system plugin and JA Magz template. If unexpected things appear, it should be reviewed on case by case.

Yes, I know I need to combine the JS files. Can you give me some guidance on how and where I need to do it so that I have the best chance of doing the changes correctly without breaking anything.

    Thanks

    Hi David,

By default, the JCH Optimize plugin will automatically combine and optimize all .js files being loaded in our template into one .js file. You just need to configure the plugin settings like my snapshot below. This is the only way to combine .js files on our T3 templates at the moment.
