April 2, 2013 at 1:40 pm #488588Hello
First thing, thank you for replying to this post. With extreme reluctance to pursue any solutions to the JA wall 2.5 installations. Reason being from day one of using this template there has been issue after issue.
• Starting with the menu structure Included with the quick start which was completely unusable, and had to be deleted and completely restructured to have any correct functionality.
• Why does site have 2 to 3 thousand visitors a day when it is not indexed with any search engine?
• Has JoomArt remove all proprietary software such as Google analytics from template purchase package?
• JavaScript conflicts: object blinking in background of non animated image. These are but a few of the smaller issues that occur on a regular basis.
In my pursuit to clean up package for the long haul I have conferred with some of the best support administrators specializing in Joomla’s content management system I’ve met in my four decades plus of computer experience.
Most say that template is buggy; others say it’s poorly written and some say it’s just a plain lemon. Please don’t get me wrong, out of hundreds of template providers and thousands of templates I previewed this was my choice and I would like to utilize it in my project. As well as get my money’s worth out of it.
Most of the MAJOR issues began in the update/upgrade to 3.0 both in Joomla and JoomArt JA Wall. With that being said repairing the 2.5 version maybe unnecessary except for the fact of saving my content in the upgrade process.
I am doing a clean install of Joomla 3.0 on a separate hosting plan and it was recommended not to install the JA Wall template and to choose another.
If you can seriously assure me that this template is not a lemon and it is worth installing a new 3.0 instance I would be happy to move forward and manually transfer my content from the 2.5.8 version to 3.03
Please advise of your recommendations.
Just for the record, below are the issues I received in attempting to updates.
Support and I checked for 3.0 joomla update on shoppesoft.com and there is none available after changing to
Joomla! Update Configuration

cleared cache and tried a couple of times.
Also when attempted to update extensions received these errors for JA System Lazyload Plugin for J25 & J30, JA System Social Feed Plugin for J25 & J30, JA Wall Template for J25 & J301st one:

○ Updating COM_INSTALLER_TYPE_TYPE_ was successful.I also tried updates threw JA extension manager and received this error for JA System Lazyload Plugin for J25 & J30, JA System Social Feed Plugin for J25 & J30
Errors occurred during upgrading, please fix them fist

April 3, 2013 at 9:23 am #488690Hi emporia,
I will try to clear out your issues.
<blockquote>• Starting with the menu structure Included with the quick start which was completely unusable, and had to be deleted and completely restructured to have any correct functionality.
</blockquote>
If you install the quickstart package, you will have a menu that work as our demo. If not, I would recommend you check again your installation and hosting configuration. Please check out this thread
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-wall-qa/If you does not like our demo menu you can just delete them. It is very easy to do.
If you does not llike our quickstart package, just install the JA Wall template and extensions on a pure Joomla installation.<blockquote>• Why does site have 2 to 3 thousand visitors a day when it is not indexed with any search engine? </blockquote>
I just wonder that have you do any SEO to your site.
JA Wall is just a template, and I can see it is 5th position in google search index when I search for “ja wall”<blockquote>JA Wall J25 – Displaying items by tag
joomla25-templates.joomlart.com/ja_wall/
</blockquote><blockquote>• Has JoomArt remove all proprietary software such as Google analytics from template purchase package?
</blockquote>
We have remove all our google analytic from the package a long time ago.<blockquote>• JavaScript conflicts: object blinking in background of non animated image.</blockquote>
For this issue, can you please capture screenshot or video for me to check? Can you get the same result on our demo?
http://joomla25-templates.joomlart.com/ja_wall/en/For update issue:
JA Wall is a single package that can run on both J2.5 and J3.0. You do not need to update it.
If you can upgrade your Joomla from J2.5 to J3.0 then JA Wall will work well, though. For other JA extensions, you have to use JA Extension Manager to upgrade them.
For JA Extension Manager, you get that error because you have not config it properly.
You can check out this thread.

April 4, 2013 at 11:01 am #488810Hello
Thank you Wall Crasher for your responseThere were issues with the Joomla installation as well as the template package. So I decided to do a clean install of both Joomla and the JA Wall package to a 3.0.3 installation.
Both Joomla and the Wall seem to be up to date with no issues. So repairing the 2.5 package is unnecessary. I just wish there was an easy way to transfer my content from the 2.5 site to 3.0. Each is on a separate hosting plan (same hosting provider).
I’ve not yet configured the JA extension manager until I study the two articles you mention in your post. Hopefully there will be no issues with that in the future.
Thanks again

Emporia</blockquote>I think that both j2.5 and J 3.x Wall use the same db field names etc. So if you’re skilled with exporting your db data from the 2.5 install using phpMyAdmin, it would just be a matter of importing that 2.5 sql dump into the J3.x version then?
If you’re unfamililiar with that method then installing Akeeba Backup on the 2.5 site and making a DB only backup can basically achieve the same thing, you then restore the sql to the v 3 site using akeeba restore etc.
Hope that informs.

Hi Wall Crasher
You’re right about that! It seems that Joomla has major issues upgrading from 2.58 to 3.0.3 at this time. It looks like my decision to do a clean install of Joomla 3.03, on a new hosting plan and then install the JA wall package was the right choice. All seemed to be well, everything is up to date with no conflicts or errors at this date Friday, April 05, 2013.For those who feel they need to upgrade from 2.5.8 to 3.03 now! There seems to be a work around to accomplish this. The support team from my hosting provider as a courtesy does a manual install of 2.5.9 and then the normal upgrade process works correctly. It is best to contact your hosting provider for details.

Your suggestion would be great if it’s doable, it would save me a lot of time!! I will confer with the support team today, if they give me a thumb up I will move forward with your suggestions. Otherwise it’s the hard way one by one from one site to the other.
Thanks

Hey Emporia
If you decide to go ahead with the transfer of the DB info, Feel free to PM me or email me enq@monsoftwebdesign.net
prior to it for detailed instructions on the process using PhpMyAdmin etc. I am willing to install both a J2.5 version and a J 3.0 version locally and produce a video recording of the process of exporting from J 2.5 and changing the db prefix of exported items to match db prefix of new J. 3 etc and importing into J 3. db successfully.Your call

April 6, 2013 at 2:37 am #489010Hi tfosnom
It is very kind of you to offer your time and work. In the last 24 hour I’ve been working with the Senior System Engineers from the hosting support team and they assured me that these updates issues would be resolved and I will not lose months of work. So hopefully transfering the content from one site to another will not be necessary.Again thank you very much
Kindest regards
Emporia -
