I don’t want any more plugins, any more extensions, I just want what I have to work :((
If this thing works in categories, why the hell does it not work in section?
The day is getting worse for me 😉

July 15, 2008 at 11:59 am #259888Im not sure if it can be a bug in Joomla itself, i know there is a Menu permissions issue that have been resolved in the 1.5.4 version.
Butin the other hand, you say it work in sections but not in categories?
What about: switch to another template and check if you have same problem then?questbg Friendquestbg

We hope to have our site live in 2 weeks. I don’t want to try a new template. I just want the Section page to work the same as a Category page.
Surely that’s not asking for too much 😉

July 15, 2008 at 12:21 pm #259898I can log in the front end OK, but not the back end Admin. Could you send URL, UN and PW again and I’ll try replicate the problem.
Thanks

July 15, 2008 at 1:09 pm #259908Thanks Menalto. OK, I’ve tried the same scenario on your test Teline II site.
First of all I chose a section, in this case ‘Entertainment’. Here is how the lead article appears in this section to ‘unregistered’ members in this section:
I then went to this ‘Entertainment’ Section in the Magazine Menu and then to ‘Parameters – Component’ and changed ‘Show Unauthorized Links’ to ‘Yes’.:
Article stayed in the section page as per first image above, as it should as I haven’t changed the access privileges of the article yet. So …
I then went to the Article Manager and chose the “Paris’ Red-Hot London Jaunt” article and changed ‘Access Level’ from public to Registered.
Refreshed the Section ‘Entertainment’ page again … and … the article disappeared … woo hoo … just the same as on my site!!
🙂
I then checked the Category ‘books’, which is where the original article was resident. Of course, it was still not there as this Category had no ‘Show Unauthorized Links’ set to ‘Yes’.
So, out of interest, I went back to the magazine menu and choose the Category ‘Books’ and set the ‘Show Unauthorized Links’ to ‘Yes’.
Refresh the page and … the article is back, along with the ‘Register to Read More’ button!!!
SO … this is exactly the same problem on the demo site as I have on my site.
This works in Category pages only … NOT in Section pages.
Fix please Menalto!! 😉
Thanks

Thanks Menalto,
I did get in. And made some cosmetic changes. Monocolor. Although I did not have a chance to apply it to the Homepage yet.
For some sites, it looks more professional to have a monocolor. Just a thought.

</blockquote>Think duotone Cornelio. Black with a percentage of either cyan or magenta … great on images and would be great on a template!
But don’t get Menalto thinking of other things until he’s fixed my “Read More” problem 😉

Oh no, still white background. Just the colors used by Joomlart. I just changed the settings in the JA News Module.
But, you are the graphic artist, or at least the one who has lots of experience on actuall magazines. So, we will defer to your aesthetic eye, Chris. .:)
And, I added one Section — Initiatives — where we can share some of these issues

Chris</blockquote>I created a Section there Chris, called Initiatives. There is a Category called Teline II. If you could place it there, we can have a more systematic discussion.
There are also categories on
Joomla
Multimedia
etc.I forgot to add Mobile computing. 🙂 That is the direction of website presentation.
