Hi There,
I am using UserMeta plugin (see http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/user-meta/ )
and was wondering how to use it with the Anion Theme? You supposed to able to add these fields to the registration form so you can collect this information when people join. All you need to do is insert: {UserMeta}. In order to use it in the registration form, I’ve edited /components/com_user/views/register/tmpl/default.php in but the new meta data does not come up.
Is there something with the theme that is preventing this information from showing up?

December 30, 2010 at 1:08 am #369247This template overrides the default com_user component so applying things there may not always have the effect you expect.
In this case you will need to go into plugins>system>jat3>base-themes>default>html where you will find the folder com_user
Now you could directly edit the files in that folder but if you upgrade the jat3 plugin it will overwrite the changes. So first copy thif entire folder to templates>la_anion>html . This will then be the master copy of this component so you can now make you changes to that file.
I’ve never user the UserMeta Plugin so it would be great to see how it works.

December 30, 2010 at 1:27 am #369250Thanks for the information.
I did as you instructed. It didn’t add the extra meta data when I added the line at 101 (see attachment)
I am not sure what else to try.
Any ideas?

Do you think maybe it isn’t calling to {UserMeta} ?
December 30, 2010 at 5:03 pm #369386I don’t mean to be a nag but, there has to be a way to make this work? Anyone have any other suggestions? I am new to Joomla so please forgive me. :((

December 30, 2010 at 5:50 pm #369391Hmm, are you using K2? It will work if you switch off the system K2 and user K2 plugins as these have their own registration overrides. Took me ages to find this component and download it but it looks OK with the standard Joomla registration page. Might need a bit of for your needs configuration though.
If you are using K2 I do not know that component too well so it would need some research as to where to put the {UserMeta} tag.

December 30, 2010 at 5:57 pm #369392Ah so that was the problem! Thanks a bunch.
So how will turning off K2 System affect me? Everything seems to be fine but i just want to make sure I am not loosing something else.
I haven’t done anything in the component so I think I should be ok?
