March 10, 2011 at 2:54 am #161295BUMP – I have the same issue with JA Portfolio running on J1.15. You can register OK, the email arrives, click to confirm etc but no user is created in the backend. However, the user is created in the database and AGORA at least can see the users. It is only the USER area in joomla config area that seems not to be able to read the jos_user table.
Any ideas please – this is not a good situation.

March 10, 2011 at 5:58 pm #380764applestone.
I am marking the original thread as closed as the thread was dealing with a problem with the J1.6 version of JA Community+. Yours is a very different issue with a different version of Joomla and a different template. If I can work out how to do it I will move your posts to the correct forum so we can follow it up there and it doesn’t get missed in a closed thread. It should be followed up in the ticket still anyway.
I have just downloaded Portfolio and tested with the default setup and registration is working as expected.
*edit – Moved to a new thread of its own.

March 10, 2011 at 11:46 pm #380822Thanks Phil – however, mine doesn’t work and I can’t see that we have done much to stop it working. I have a good many joomla websites running and not one has ever had this problem. Now, I have added all my details to the ticket so perhaps someone can get in there and take a look around as promised. Theer’s not much point me continuing with site development until such time as people can actually register and login. I think you’ll agree that’s pretty fundamental.
EDIT: I have pretty much tried everything to get this working – I even downloaded and installed a 3rd party login. All fail – the db shows the entry but nothing in the backend of the site and users can’t login after registration. I am now leaning toward some sort of problem with the quick start I used – I generally download and install joomla and then add the template – here I used the all in one! This is the first time I have done this and this is the first time i have ever seen this problem! I can’t afford the time to re-install, I have done quite a lot of tweeks to various code before realising there was such a major problem.

March 12, 2011 at 12:56 pm #380997Still no JA footer?
Looking at your ticket I see not phpmyadmin logon details, the ftp account and the url are incorrectly input so it may have been that the support staff could not access your site hence the delays.
Also, how did you instal? From the quickstart or did you add the template to an existing install? It appears you have a number of templates installed so I guessing that you added the template to an existing install.
Does registration work if you switch to the milkyway template?

Try looking harder Phil – there is nowhere to add these details in the ticket info (that I can see) so I added in the post itself – 2nd from last post – full explanation as to how to get to phpmyadmin when the ISP is 1&1 including all the necessary login information. My guess is that no one has looked else they would have posted that they couldn’t find the details!!!
Moving one – the ftp details had a v instead of a h for holidays. Not hard to spot the typo but none the less, apologies.
Now, as explained previously – I used quickinstall and this is where I believe the problem lies. There is a problem betwen jos_user and jos_acl which has been highlited in other posts relatin to other templates. This is where your people need to target their activity. Every template fails – JA Purity, YOO themes etc. Milkyway template refuses to accept the password – the verify password turns red and the program just stops! It doesn’t matter what data you add. This is all getting pretty annoying.
I have tried loads of templates hence there are a few in there. These will all go if and when JA portfolio ever works.
I have downloaded just a JA template and T3 and added this to another website – no problems. Registration and login both OK.
Phil, I’ll bother with the minor issue of the footer when you guys bother to take my problems seriously and solve the major issue of not being able to register / login. Anyone would think I haven’t paid for the privilege of using the **** thing.

March 12, 2011 at 2:31 pm #381004No need to get angry. My point was that the details for logons were and are incorrect. It was only because I know what your URL should be that I was able to logon. Others may not have that luxury and simply try the link and when it does not work they may not take things further.
Thanks for pointing me to the phpmyadmin details. I did not see that in your ticket.
On to the footer and you comments about not bothering. I am botherd about your problems and as you know I put in some effort on your behalf. You agreed that you would restore it. As I have already explained, I am just a moderator on these forums and just help out as much as I can. I do not make the policy for JA but I would like to respect it. As you have not paid for copyright removal but have physically removed the copyright footer then I am not willing to help until it is restored. That is my choice, not that of JA so please do not blame them for my decision. If an when you restore that footer I will be glad to help.
I have tested on your behalf a fresh install of your quickstart and it is working as expected with regards to registration etc Maybe there was some corruption with your upload or download I cannot say for sure but it should be a simple fix.

March 12, 2011 at 4:19 pm #381013OK…so where exactly is the footer I have removed? I have no idea! Tell me and I’ll put it back.
<blockquote>My point was that the details for logons were and are incorrect</blockquote> – They are not, I edited them when you first mentioned it. The URL is http://www.redseavillaholidays.com – that is what it says on the ticket.
I am sure that you will concede that it is my install that matters here and this definately doesn’t work. Installing joomla is not a tricky job and I wish I had done what i normally do – perhaps we wouldn’t both be wasting our time discussing it, I would be building and managing my website. Nonetheless, it has failed and I would welcome some help and advice on overcoming whatever the corruption is that is stopping user registrations.
Question – where can I find a fresh 1.5.22 version of joomla without the install directory etc? Perhaps all I need do is refresh the code. is this sensible / possible?
Regards

March 12, 2011 at 4:37 pm #381017You appear to not have Portfolio up anymore. And thak you for correcting the login details in your ticket.
As for the quickstart. Many thousands have been installed this way and it is rare to get problems with it like you appear to have.
When you have restored the portfolio template I will take a quick look.

In case you missed it – I edited the earlier post.

March 12, 2011 at 6:09 pm #381030I have restored the JA footer. If you wish to not have that you can purchase a copyright removal right through the JA shop. Or you can just leave it visible as it is quite unobtrusive anyway.
I have also switched off the powered by T3 logo as that is quite obvious.
It appears a couple of mysql tables were incorrect. Not sure how that happened as I have tested a couple of copies of the Portfolio quickstart and have not had any problems yet. I have replaced these tables with working versions from the quickstart I have just created and you can now add users. This meant removing the existing tables from your site but as it appeared you only had minimal users (tesers only I think?) this should not be a problem. I have taken a backup of those tables before I edited incase you want them restored.
I’ve just got to restore your admin password then you should be good to go. As I used my uses table from my test install it currently has my password. It should be fixed by the time you read this. Please check the admininstrator account is correct (email addy etc).
