What is the correct process for removing an item from JA Slideshow? It is set to “From Image Folder” mode, and reads the folder correctly. I an add a new item by simply uploading the image to the correct folder, and then going in and configuring the settings for the entry.

However, if I delete a file from the folder, it does remove the entry from the Images List, but when browsing the site, a placeholder for the old image remains in the list.

This installation of Tiris has been running for about a year, and I’ve kept upgrading the various components. Previously I was able to edit the list of of entries manually. Could this have something to do with it?

This appears to be issue of cache, try to clean all caches: JAT3 , disable cache in advanced option of this module, browser cache.

Give it a try again and let me know the result.

Hi Ninja, thanks for your reply. I’ve carefully cleared out the caches, still no joy. Is the correct process to simply remove the image from the images directory JA Slideshow is looking at?

It is 100% not the cache. Here is an example. I removed one image file from the directory. I cleared JAT3 cache, then deleted the normal Joomla cache. For JA Slideshow, under Advanced, Caching is set to “No Caching.”

On a separate computer, I completely cleared local browser cache. The problem remains:

Interestingly, when I look at the source for this page, I notice the line referencing the missing image is different from the other entries. It is attempting to reference the original image, whereas the other lines are referencing the converted versions that get resized automatically by JA Slideshow. See here:

At this stage, any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is test result on your site.

Maybe you solved the problem yourself? If you have more issues please don’t hesitate to mention here.

    Hi Ninja,

No, haven’t solved it. I put the image back so it didn’t look bad while I try to solve the problem. There are currently five images, I only want four. The one I want to get rid of is the one with the brown dog. If I delete it, the problem returns.

Hi Ninja… OK… it seems to be getting worse 🙂 If you could take another look it would be appreciated. What I’m seeing now is not only a faulty image (there are 4 in the directory but 5 spaces in the list, one blank) but the overlay text is not appearing properly…

Actually, I’ve rolled back to JA Slideshow 2.5.7 and got it working again. I’ll just leave it alone at that version. Thanks for your help anyway.
