June 19, 2013 at 5:20 pm #188342There are two fields on the employer registration form that make no sense and I do not understand why I cannot remove them? The fields in question are the Approved and Duration fields. For one thing there is no logic that I can find why these fields are there? If I am registering as an employer and I see a field labeled Approved and my only choices are No and Yes I am going to choose yes. I fail to see how a form can be so vague. What is Approved and why does it have to be approved?
The duration field is as confusing as the approved field. What duration is this referring to?
In both these cases there is nothing in the Wiki or doing a search on the forum that produced answers that help me. Since neither of these fields make sense to me, there is no obvious reason to have them there, yet I am not allowed to remove them or at the very least disable them.

June 20, 2013 at 3:21 am #496338Hi Earthrat,
Because those 2 fields are system fields on JA Jobboard system and you can not remove them.
<blockquote>The duration field is as confusing as the approved field. What duration is this referring to?</blockquote> The duration is the time to get notification from JA Jobboard system when there is any update on new applications, expired job,….
<blockquote>What is Approved and why does it have to be approved?</blockquote> This field is needed for super admin to publish Employer or not in the JA Jobboard system ( backend )

June 20, 2013 at 4:15 pm #496406That explains the duration field and now I can give the user a more useful title so they know what it means.
You say the approved field is a super admin field, so why then does it show up to the user on the front end? I assume this also includes the Published and Active questions on the job seeker registration which the admin will use to publish the user and make them active. Again why are we giving a user the power to publish and activate their own account?
I am sorry but there are quite a few fields that DO NOT qualify as system fields. I want more control over what fields I want to use and system fields should only be fields that are required by some other part of the website such as the user name, password and email fields. Fields that are not required in this way should be optional and admin fields should be managed by admins and not users!
Really how much though went into the design of this job board because I am not seeing the price justification at all myself!

June 21, 2013 at 2:24 am #496436Dear Eathrat,
Yes, you could set field to be managed by admin only such as “Display Mod” in the field attribute to “Only Admin”. With this setting, the field can be seen in backend only.
if you find any field which does not work with this way, that means it need to fix in code fle. Pls show me the exact field then i will help you.
Regards
