Please Note: After a number of trial and errors, and an accidental error in another installation, I found a palliative solution to the problems and ramifications encountered and outlined in this original post. I posted a palliative solution in the third response here. I think there is a script error, because I did not encounter this issue in the original JA Teline or the Gavick templates that I have been using.I corrected some of the errors in the links provided here, so you might not view the errors already, but what were observed, were as outlined in the original post. This might have been encountered by others, so I did not delete the original post below, nor modified observations and the essence of the original thread.

Hello,
Again, I wish to congratulate the Joomlart template developers for the JA Teline II. So far, I would consider it the most innovative template prepared by Joomlart.
The QuickState installation went well. The default Demo page was as expected.
However, I wonder if some members tried to rename or create new sections, and included them in the Magazine menu.
How do you resolve this problem with this edit issue of the Magazine Menu (one of a number encountered).
I encountered some bugs, or perhaps I have not done it properly), with the edit of the Magazine menu
First, I tried renaming some of the created magazine (menu) “sections”
For example:
Sport => Sports (added an s)
Artist => Arts and CultureNo other changes were done in the specifications of each of the revised magazine (menu) “sections”.
Observations:
The renaming worked, however, in both cases, this was observed:
Obs. #1a. Two names appeared in the magazine menu admin (and in their presentation on the page) for each:
Sport and Sports (not “Sports” only, as desired)
Artist & Arts and Culture (not “Arts and Culture” only, as desired)
Please refer to:
http://world-odyssey.org/jte10x10/index.php
(with revisions to magazine menu)vs
http://american-odyssey.com/jte10x10/index.php
(no revision, done)Obs. #1b. The renamed “magazine (menu) section” had the expected “magazine (menu) categories” but not in the retained original “magazine (menu) section”
This should be expected and desired, except for the observations below.
Obs. #1c-1. The default page for the original “magazine (menu) section” was the original one that appeared upon installation of the JA Teline II
For example, for “Artist” compare:
http://american-odyssey.com/jte10x10/content/blogsection/10/110/
(with no revisions to magazine menu, done)http://world-odyssey.org/jte10x10/content/blogsection/10/178/
(with revisions to magazine menu)the same (and the desired) intro page for the section “Artist”
Obs. #1c-2. Unfortunately, the default page for each of the renamed “magazine (menu) section” while showing the name of the section, both had as default article, that of the first “hot topic”, the rest of the page included the JA News Module (but as expected in the section not the headlines module), the “user modules” below the News, and what would be expected of the right and left modules for a section introductory page.
For example, compare the Intro section page for the website where the section name was revised:
Retained “Artist” section
http://world-odyssey.org/jte10x10/content/blogsection/10/178/
(please forget the missing right and left side here, no attempt was done to duplicate the left and right side of the retained “Artist” section; except for the left and right columns, the rest of the page is what is expected default intro page for a section)In contrast, the renamed “Arts and Culture” (from “Artist”) does not show the correct intro page for the section:
http://world-odyssey.org/jte10x10/content/blogsection/0/110/
Note that revised “Arts and Culture” (from “Artist”) above is not like the unrevised “Artist” in an unchanged site:
http://american-odyssey.com/jte10x10/content/blogsection/10/110/
Please note that the aforementioned renaming problem (bug) was not encountered in any of the original (precursor) JA Teline
I will post a separate threads for my observations in relation to creation of new sections and categories — there were more complex problems there too.
Cornelio
N.B.
So far, the Categories, under each section, did not seem to be affected. However, I have not tried to revise the categories yet because the above observation is very critical.teetide Friendteetide

May 25, 2008 at 11:46 pm #250514Same problem here Cornelio.
If you rename a section via the section manager, it sets the section CID to zero in the magazine menu. This effectively kills the section. It also creates a new section link with no categories under it. You have to then move the old categories under the new menu link. Definitely a bug.

Thanks for responding Tee Tide.
Have you and others reported this then? And, is there any solution underway?
My observation was slightly different from yours, as outlined above. The old name was retained but lost the categories associated with it — it went to the renamed section. However, as stated above, the “old section” has the correct layout (and have the articles associated with it). The renamed section though did not have the corrected introduction “section” page, like the old (retained section name.
The categories that went with the “renamed section” in the magazine seemed to have the correct layout and contents. I did not rename the categories though, so I am not sure if that will have an effect on the categories also. Right now, I just considered the renaming of the section in the Magazine, menu.
Note that the renaming was allowed and did not cause any problem in the first version of JA Teline — whether it was the section or the categories that were renamed.

May 26, 2008 at 7:11 am #250554Here is what I found so far to be a palliative solution so far, after a number of trial and error, and an accident error in another installation led to this suggestion:
First: Go to Administrator (although this step might not be needed)
Administrator => Content => Section Manager
change Sport => Sports
just to be consistent), to avoid confusion
Second: Go to Menu => Magazine Menu
When you change Sport => Sports in the Magazine Menu be sure to select Sports instead of the default All Categories in the Section window.
Note: Whenever you edit the Magazine menu, be sure to select the appropriate section, instead of the default “All Categories”.
The second step ensures that the layout of the introductory page of the section is appropriate layout for the specific section.
Third: There is still a need to delete the original name, “Sport”, because it appears.
Moderator: You may consider this issue partly solved. I think there is still a bug.
I stated above that this is a palliative solution, because, if I recall correctly, in the original JA Teline, once the correct Section is selected in the original addition to a menu, it remains locked to the appropriate section in succeeding edit.
I am not sure though if this error is entirely that of the JA Teline II. If I recall correctly, I did not encounter this problem with the Gavick Templates I have used.
I hope this helps.
Cornelio
