April 20, 2013 at 1:04 pm #186953Hi,
I don’t know about other people, but I basically only use the JA Extension manager to check for updates on the Joomlart extensions.
On all the other extensions (and this number can grow large on some sites), I get “Response from JoomlArt Updater Service: Sorry, this extension is invalid, unpublished or no longer supported…” anyway.I would be happy if it would be possible to be able to hide all the extensions that the extension can’t maintain.
Also, an overview of the services that it does support, would also be handy – maybe this could be a community effort.Possibly, Joomlart could work together with some big players (JCE, Anything-digital, …) to allow member-logins to also allow an update service through JA Extension Manager.
I would love a good update manager, but currently I experience JAEM as a nuissance more than a feature.
Thanks,
Jurgen.tfosnom Friendtfosnom

April 20, 2013 at 3:02 pm #490535I second the option to have JA ext mgr only check ja stuff as it currently can’t do anything else at present. Akeeka Admin Tools generally can check most others

April 22, 2013 at 9:18 am #490664Hello,
The JAEM can only check update for JA Extensions, especially for Commercial extension , with other extension, at this time, we don’t have any option to hide them.

Why can’t you hide them? If Ja extensions are identified by the prefix JA_ surely the extension manager can be set to just display anything with a ja_ prefix? and discard any other extension?

April 23, 2013 at 4:59 am #490776Hi,
Yes, its a known issue and we are considering it. JA Extensions Manager was developed with a broad view to support upgrades of other extensions too but for that the developers of such extensions need to provide support. If we remove this feature It would beat the purpose JAEM was developed.

April 23, 2013 at 6:51 am #490779Hi Guys,
In the next version of JAEM, we will have the option to hide Non-JA extensions and I think its time to have an updated JAEM video tutorial too focusing on T3v3 framework and Joomla 2.5 / 3.0.
Regards
Arvind

I have never had any extension that supported JAEM. If developers need to add extra stuff to support JAEM. Why would they? I’ve only had grieve with JAEM.
Why not get rid of it completely and use the perfectly fine Joomla Extension Update Manager? No confusions, and no extra extensions needed, so better security and more streamlined (less bulky) joomla experience.
On J1.5 it was a nice feature. But since J2.5 it’s been obsolete.

Hello Tom,
You can not use default Joomla Extension Manager in case of updating commercial extension, since it does not provide a method to update extension with authentication.
We have reseached this feature since Joomla release it on version 1.6. And finally, we have decided to keep JAEM component, since our component is not only can solve an issue of updating commercial extension, it also provides many advanced feature for managing version of your extensions. So you can update extension, rollback to backed up ones, resolve conflict and revert your change…
For Joomla Extension manager (JEM), we have updated our system to allow you can update our free extension via JEM, you can try with T3 framework.
I have never had any extension that supported JAEM. If developers need to add extra stuff to support JAEM. Why would they? I’ve only had grieve with JAEM.

For NON-JA extension, you can use local update feature, it can work with any extension without require any special update in those extensions.I hope it will be helpful for you 🙂
