I am trying out Joomla! 1.5 RC2 and wanted to install JA Koniga as my template. I tried installing it through the administrator backend but it didn’t show in my Templates. So I uploaded it instead via ftp, and now it shows, but when I select it as my template and go to my site, I just get “Restricted Access.” Any ideas?
September 2, 2007 at 12:37 pm #228636From what I can see, there is no 1.5 package of Koniga.
September 2, 2007 at 1:55 pm #228637I thought that might be it, but where do I look to see what version of Joomla! it’s compatible with?
EDIT: Actually, no, it says under Overview: “Joomla 1.0.x + Joomla 1.5 compatible”
September 2, 2007 at 2:09 pm #228638The template you download is definantly 1.0x as you can see from its coding. There is no 1.5 template pack available from what I can see.
Maybe they are referring to legacy mode but that is kinda silly as “all” templates work with legacy.
September 2, 2007 at 3:05 pm #228642So how do I tell what’s compatible with 1.5 and what’s not? I don’t know much about reading the coding; how can you tell?
September 2, 2007 at 3:13 pm #228643The simpliest way is in the templateDetails.xml file.
In Joomla 1.0x, it has <mosinstall …
In Joomla 1.5x it has <installThere are some other differences as well.
To get JA_Koniga 1.0x to work with Joomla 1.5, you need to activate the legacy plugin. This is in Admin > Extensions > Plugin Manager > *System – Legacy* (page2)

So it is possible to get it to work? And I just deleted my installation to go back to 1.0.13! Alright, I’m going to reinstall 1.5 first and then try to do this, and see what happens.
September 2, 2007 at 5:58 pm #228657Yeah, it can work but with Legacy Mode. You can keep working with Legacy Mode in 1.5 until JA release it properly – then you can replace it.
Most changes to the template will be image and CSS (your changes) so you can copy them over with the 1.5 native release. If they release one of course 🙂

September 3, 2007 at 9:55 am #228683It’s one of the addons that’s causing the issues
September 3, 2007 at 9:59 am #228685“One of the addons”? Can you vague that up for me a little? 😀 What addon do you mean? Something in the template? Or something in Joomla! 1.5 RC2? I tried it on a completely fresh install of Joomla!, and the template was the very first thing I installed. I ONLY installed the template, no other components, modules or plugins.

Sorry mate, shouldn’t rush my post.Basically, the template will work however there are add-ons such as the menu module or another javascript addon. I’ll see if I can get them converted for you.
September 8, 2007 at 4:11 am #229086Just to press the issue a bit, I tried this one too and also get the errors, and in legacy mode it’s even worse, it puts out verbose errors.
Same for JA UthiaII which I customized and then when I went to install it, bad things happened.
So all the compatible with 1.5 badges should be removed, or the templates made to work on vanilla installs of 1.5. Or do we need to ask for 1.5 packages?

September 8, 2007 at 8:29 am #229103The template itself will work, it’s just the addons that don’t. Although, they should so I’ll get someone onto this or I’ll convert them myself.
Apologies for the delay.
