my website was hacked few weeks ago, and administrator password has been changed few times since then. i have now changed my admin username instead (read somewhere that it helps). but, when i log in as admin i get ‘Restricted Access’ message when i try to open following:
user manager
menu manager
front page managereverything else works fine
on the other hand, with legacy mode turned on, only user manager reports following error:
“DB function failed with error number 1054
Unknown column ‘aro.aro_id’ in ‘on clause’ SQL=SELECT a.*, g.name AS groupname FROM jos_users AS a INNER JOIN jos_core_acl_aro AS aro ON aro.value = a.id INNER JOIN jos_core_acl_groups_aro_map AS gm ON gm.aro_id = aro.aro_id INNER JOIN jos_core_acl_aro_groups AS g ON g.group_id = gm.group_id GROUP BY a.id LIMIT 0, 20″while everything else works fine
any idea?

First of all … REALLY sorry for your hack. Been there, never want to travel there again.
The problem you have is a JOOMLA framework issue not a problem with the template
It appears you simply have a corrupt instance of Joomla. Here’s what I’d do: Since you are running an older version of Joomla…try upgrading to the latest version. As part of this upgrade, the problem will probably fix itself.
If you will have to do a total reinstall of Joomla.
Have fun!
John.October 27, 2009 at 4:59 pm #321787thanks for quick reply. if i do a total reinstall of joomla, can i keep existing database? maybe stupid question but still i have to ask.

October 27, 2009 at 5:16 pm #321788Absolutely.
What I would do is:
+ Make a back up of my database (just in case…)
+ Make a copy of my configuration.php file
+ And if you’ve made changes to your template (added images, changed CSS, etc.) it might be good to back up your template directory as well as the main Joomla image directory. Then blow out the instance…and start over…and create a database with a different prefix or name when it asks.
Once installed and working, then simply replace the configuration.php file (this will reconnect you to your old database) and any other folders you may have kept (template, images…etc.)
Good luck!
John.October 27, 2009 at 5:35 pm #321791thanks again, just one more question – what happens to installed extensions like joomfish, jce editor, newsletter, etc. after reinstal. i understand i do have to reinstal them too, but do i loose translations (for example) or these are stored in a database?
