This template is riddled with tables around the content area?

I don’t understand why considering most of the newer templates don’t have tables at all?

How do we get rid of them?

Create a template override that uses div’s and CSS. Or better still copy one from one of the other templates. You will find them in your templates html/com_content folder.

AFAIK 1.6 will be table-less
