What is the theory behind the RSGallery ‘New!’ label? How long does it stay labeled as NEW!? Does it work? How to remove if it doesnt? Will it be addressed in update?

All my galleries say “NEW!!” next to them. SO be it available or not, i want it removed if its not working. Just need to comment it out. Anyone know where I can find it in the code??
