September 30, 2015 at 9:27 pm #694014I want to get an RSS feed from my Home Page of all new articles on the page.
It’s been a struggle for me. I’m not even sure if I set up the feed display correctly, but I can’t seem to get it to work right.
I created another page (hidden from main menu) of all “Featured” articles and when I use the RSS feed from it, it usually only shows much older articles or ones from the uncategorized category (even though I only have 5 categories I want to show, and uncategorized is not one)
http://goturpin.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured
Any help on correctly setting up a page that shows just “New” or “Featured” articles that would show the latest?

October 1, 2015 at 11:21 am #694581Ok, I did
However the link is not generating any content from the home page, which is the new articles appearing:
http://goturpin.com/index.php?format=feed&type=rss
All it gives me is:
<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”utf-8″?>
<!– generator=”Joomla! – Open Source Content Management” –>
<rss version=”2.0″ xmlns:atom=”http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom”>

</rss>There is no stories that should be filtering here from the news content being added.
Any advise?

October 2, 2015 at 8:28 am #694770Hi @timpennington,
Here’s the deal. It’s because you have some articles in category Medicine or Biochemistry but those category are trashed, therefore when you choose in Menus >>> Top Navigation >>> Home >>> display article from category News (and its sub-categories) but there are no article available.
You can try to temporary assign any article to category News then recheck.

October 3, 2015 at 12:00 pm #695098Thanks, Adam.
I see what you are saying; I assigned a story to NEWS and when I hit the RSS, it did appear.
Most of my stories are assigned under FALL category; is there a way to change the settings so that I can swap FALL for NEWS in the Menus–Top Navigation–Home and have it show FALL and make it work? I tried that and my home page came up basically empty.
Or, since I label all new articles as “Featured,” is there a way to create a page where it shows just the latest “Featured” articles, and I can grab the RSS from that?
Thanks for trouble shooting this for me

October 5, 2015 at 9:02 am #695336Hi @timpennington,
1. I navigate to Menus >>> Top Navigation >>> Home >>> change category from News to Fall Sports and you can see news feed now.
2. If you want to display featured articles only, just create new menu item with type Articles Featured
