I would like to feed the news categories located on the front page with RSS feeds. Any help would be appreciated. For example, I would like to feed the category “health” with a feed from USAToday.

So far rss is pull from joomla in your admin backend,however there is a component coming out soon from ijoomla that will give you option to have individual rss feeds per section and category.
