Tried to install Russian language to a new site.

Appearently, the conversion process was not fulfilled. Menus are not translated.

But, even worse is that there are no Russian words – only question marks.

I have read that this might have to do with database settings.

My database collation is set to utf8_general_ci

Some suggest to change to koi8r_general_ci

Others suggest that I install a Russian font, but I cannot figure out where. And the font should be one people have on their computers, otherwise it might convert into something strange. I do not know much about Russian fonts… :((

    Please help!

    Thanks!

    Hello @norchris,

Did you change the collation for your database?
I have tried to edit one article and it saved a correct value now.
So, I have install the new version of JA Multilingual that support the feature to remove the translation for your site (this version is in development now, and we will release it soon), and remove the old translation, and translate your site again.

The russian content is now saved correctly.

    Please have a look.

    FYI:
    – The new version supports Mijoshop now, so the Mijoshop content is translated 🙂
    – I also used Akeeba component to fully backed your site before translating, in case of you want to rollback your site.

Hi! I did not not change the collation. Did you? If you did, did you change for both languages or did each language get one collation?

Anyway, I am so grateful – thank you for helping out. I cannot say much more 🙂 This was just so very, very kind and helpful. Thank you!!!!

Hello again, for various (stupid) reasons, we have to postpone the Russian translation. So, we removed it… >:(

Even before removing it, we noted that the Mega Menu was out of function. Mega Menu only displays the Home menu – all the other menu items are gone.

Could you (fix or) suggest any fix for this, please?

I figured out that I manually had to change all menu language settings from UK to “All languages”! 🙂
