I am also having the problem of JA Newsflash not showing anything. I don’t get any error mesages, I’ve definitely got a section/category set up and an “article” set up for the category, but nothing is showing. I succesfully uploaded the JA Newsflash module and the module manager says it is published, but nothing is showing up. Restarting my computer as the person did in the previous post didn’t correct the problem.
Help!

August 21, 2008 at 4:02 am #266404just taking a quick stab at this as I also initially had problems
this is all in the index file for the template
is the doc type declared
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd”><html xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”>is the character set declared ( it could be UTF-8)
<meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=iso-8859-1″ />I also had to write full paths to all of the java scripts and css files
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.debateourfuture.net/mambots/system/pc_includes/ajax.js”></script>
<base href=”http://www.debateourfuture.net/” />
<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”http://www.debateourfuture.net/images/favicon.ico” />
<meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=iso-8859-1″ />
<meta http-equiv=”Content-Style-Type” content=”text/css” /><link href=”http://www.debateourfuture.net/templates/ja_mageia/css/template_css.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” />
<script language=”javascript” type=”text/javascript” src=”http://www.debateourfuture.net/templates/ja_mageia/scripts/ja.script.js”></script>
===============
do you have the script statement in your head section?usually if a mootools or java script doesn’t run, its a path issue (in my experience)
August 21, 2008 at 10:18 pm #266559Okay, well, now it IS showing up, but in the wrong place, just above the main menu (in the left column), pushing it down, and just below the user5 section where it *should* be. So now I need suggestions for how to get it in the right place, and also, I notice that the module is fairly narrow. Can I specify the width somehow?
Obviously, I’m very new to this and not much of a programmer, so throwing a bunch of code at me will kinda freak me out. I know I will be able to figure it out, I just need you to speak slowly and use small words, please! (smile).
Thanks for every one’s help.
My url is: http://www.lifesafety-services.com, if I need to give some one my administrator info, can please have a private way to pass that info along? If possible? THANK YOU!!!!!
August 21, 2008 at 10:26 pm #266560NEVERMIND! I figured it out. The other user spots weren’t showing up in the pop-down menu before, but now they are, so I was able to fix the problem.
Thank you so much, again, for helping me out.
BTW: I wasn’t meaning to sound ungrateful about you taking the time to put up that code, I just wanted to explain that I’m new at this, so code scares me and I need lots of hand-holding (sorry, so high maintenance, I know! wink.)
