July 3, 2014 at 9:25 pm #199400I am attempting to get another clean install of bookshop with 3.3 and sample data. I think it is close but the site is not showing most of the modules on the store side.
Welcome any assistance on why slider and accordian etc are not showing. I have them showing in Mijoshop as extension but my site does not look like the demo.
Also under books most of the menu elements are missing.
Thanks

July 3, 2014 at 10:08 pm #541118Hi there,
Your Joomla backend credentials you provided us don’t work. Please double check them.
Also, it’s hard to help with “etc not showing”. Instead, please be specific and provide a list of modules you have concern over.
Regards,
Alex

July 4, 2014 at 12:49 pm #541185Looking further into this it appears that the sample data is not populated for the store.
The only products in the store are what is standard with mijoshop. The sql insert was done. Is this a bug with the new joomla version or mijoshop because it worked fine when I did this build before?>:(
Also all of the menu items are saying that the mijoshop component does not exist.

</blockquote>I also noticed that yesterday as I was assessing your system.
All in all I feel your best bet would be install MijoShop on Joomla without installing Joomla demo data and play with configuring MijoShop according to your requirements on Protostar template first. Obviously, as we generally don’t provide support for 3-rd party extensions, if at this stage you face any issues with MijoShop, the best way to address them would be to contact MijoShop developers.
Once you are happily through this stage, you may want to install JA Bookstore Quick Start pack + MijoShop, basically mimicking MijoShop’s configuration settings, you’ve previously set and tested under Protostar template. Please do contact us if at this stage you bump into any issues with “JA Bookshop” template or any other JoomlArt extension.

Alex

July 4, 2014 at 3:47 pm #541198Alex thanks for the response. I have submitted a ticket to MijoShop. My experience will be as follows. You and MijoShop will place me in the middle until finally one of you resolves but it will take forever. The fact is I have installed this before without any issues. It worked. Since your site provides the instructions on how to install it not mijoshop then you should at least be trying to follow the same install instructions and see if it fails for your side. The Joomla versions and the Mijoshop versions have changed since my last install. You offer a demo site but it does not have mjoshop. Clearly something is broken somewhere since you partnered with MijoShop your team contacting them if you can’t get your instructions to work would make sense. If you can get it to install correctly with the current versions of both then I clearly have missed something somewhere.

</blockquote>I don’t see how sticking with MijoShop support regarding issues with MijoShop keeps you in the middle. Just present them issues you are facing purely with MijoShop and I am sure they will help, however trivial it might be. Accordingly, if something generated by MijoShop works OK under “Protostart” or any other Joomla’s default template but wouldn’t work under our “JA Bookshop”, we will do our best to look into it.

</blockquote>Please do us a favor and be specific: exactly which of our instructions on how to integrate MijoShop and “JA Bookshop” template persistently fail?
<em>@stulaine 435229 wrote:</em><blockquote>

</blockquote>I am a wee bit confused. You are saying that our instructions fail and at the same time that you managed to install working MijoShop with JA Bookshop. The former statement contradicts the latter, doesn’t it?
I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you did have a nicely working together MijoShop extension and JA Bookshop template but somehow messed it up, which is a very common thing when more than one change gets introduced into system without thorough testing or with no testing at all. This is exactly what I had in mind in my post #7, which is a rollback to a clean slate, starting from scratch and with adequate testing.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Alex

July 4, 2014 at 11:56 pm #541210Alex,
Not sure why you would make a statement like this
<blockquote>I am giving you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you did have a nicely working together MijoShop extension and JA Bookshop template but somehow messed it up, which is a very common thing when more than one change gets introduced into system without thorough testing or with no testing at all. First I have installed this previously without any issue but since the project was significantly delayed I decided a fresh build with the newest version of joomla and mjoshop would be appropriate. So that is what I did. I didn’t mess it up as you implied.
When I install I install in a production sever and staging sever with commits via Git for the staging server before any pushes to live so staging can be rolled back thank you.
So to be specific then. There are no products in my sample install. I thought if I recall from prior installs that this occurred during the sql install per these instructions http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/how-to-build-mijoshop-3-sample-data-after-installing-ja-bookshop-quickstart/
Perhaps I am incorrect and if so please advise. Is there some other step to get the sample product data in?

July 8, 2014 at 3:10 am #541464Hi Stuart,
I do apologise if, although inadvertently, I’ve created a wrong impression that I am somehow questioning your skills. I wish we were talking face to face sitting somewhere in a London pub over a pint of beer as it’s so easy for things to get distorted when they are communicated to others over a digital channel.
The fact remains, though, that things do get messed up and they did get messed up, be it on your, our dear customer, side or on ours, or on the side of MijoShop extension. Let’s focus on finding this out, shall we?
During the course of this week I will try to run a few tests with JA Bookshop/MijoShop installation and initial configuration on my local and remote sandboxes per our documentation, just like yourself and see how it goes. Obviously, I’ll keep you posted here, in this thread.
Have a nice week.
Regards,
Alex

I’ve just installed MijoShop 2.4.4 on the top of our JA Bookshop Quick Start on Joomla 3.2.2 and out of the box it came populated with 15 sample products:
My advise to you is to delete all the MijoShop tables from your database, uninstall and reinstall MijoShop.
Hope this helps,

Alex

July 13, 2014 at 9:36 pm #542173I have been on travel the past week. I just did a clean install and got the same result.
Is the the sql file that I should be using. http://www.joomlart.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=32804&d=1389251879
Result was exactly the same some I am not sure where I am either missing a step or getting incorrect data. The basic menus are there but no content/products and categories in the shop except for default mijo. The mjoshop menus show being unpublished.
Frustrated is all I can say. What can I provide to try and trouble shoot this? I simply want a sample site to reference.:((
Mijoshop said this is not their issue as I suspected.

July 14, 2014 at 8:56 pm #542321Hi there,
I suspect the most likely reason you didn’t get MijoShop demo products after you did your “clean” install is installing MijoShop components into it’s previously created database tables. Or am I wrong?
MijoShop’s team have worked hard to create very comprehensive documentation for their end users, so, with due respect and sympathy to you, I understand their reply.
In any case, please feel free to PM me your hosting log-in credentials and I’ll try to install MijoShop with demo products for you.
Regards,
Alex
