    Hello everyone.

I created a website for our chess club using the JA_T3 Blank template ver 2.5.0. The backend shows that there is an upgrade available (2.5.5). I have backed up my site. I’ve read the wiki docs on Joomla overrides but I’m still lost as to what file/s I need to put in the html directory. I don’t want to lose my background colors, images, etc. when upgrading. Do I even need to be concerned about Joomla overrides? Do I need to be concerned at all when upgrading?

Thanks very much for your input. I still have a lot to learn about Joomla as well as JA_T3.

Please use the JA Extension Manager to update the template if required. If there are problems the extension manager allows you to compare code changes so you can re-apply them if needed. Always backup using a tool like Akeeba backup first just in case things go wrong.

    Hello,

I used the extension manager and upgraded from v2.5.0 to v2.5.4. The upgrade removed all my styling and put back some of the ja_t3 images. There has got to be a better way to upgrade without comparing code and reapplying all the changes; How time consuming. Maybe I don’t know how to fully utilize the extension manager. Where can I learn how to better utilize it? I thought that Joomla overrides was a great feature. Can’t it be used with this template?

    Thanks again.

    Hello again,

I think I figured it out. I found the help/support videos and upgraded the extension mgr to 2.5.3. I ran the update and then did the live comparison. Things seem to be ok but I’ll take a closer look tomorrow. Its late. I also used my test site to try this out. So, if all is well, all I have to do is backup the test site and restore it on the live site.

    Good night all.
