    Hello,

The search module on my site is not working. I type in a word and I’m not getting a results page. What needs to be enabled in order for this to be working?

    My URL: http://webdev.fairwarning.com/parallax-demo

Here is the password to view the page:

    Username: webdev
    Password: FWsfdc2015

    Thanks,
    Gene

    Hello
If the search module is is published on the Homepage and Homepage does not contains the Content Block ,
in that case it will shows the results on the home page . and you know Home page does not have main body (content block) .
    Try this work
Go to module manager >>> Open search module >>>options >>Set Menu item >>> Set a menu item Here (any menu item that is showing articles for example category blog or single article) .
Now save it . Try to search something .

Now the search results will be display on the menu item that you selected in the search module , Not on the Homepage .

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

I have done what you suggested but I am not getting any results pulled up. It just displays the search string in the URL.

This is in our staging environment, where I have an older Joomla template running on separate pages. The search module for that template works, as I have articles and items there. For this template, all content is stored in modules (in parallax and video positions) and not articles. So my questions would be as follows:

1 – Should I create articles instead of module blocks? If so how do I do that and map them to those positions?
2 – Do I need to have anything else installed or enabled for the search component in order for the results to display?

    Thanks,
    Gene

    Hello
    I checked your site .
I found only one template style of JA Appilo template in your site admin panel
    Here >>> http://prntscr.com/6fq58m
That does not contains the mainbody so your homepage will not show the search results .
+ the menu items that are not showing the content for example : http://webdev.fairwarning.com/parallax-webinar
    >>> http://prntscr.com/6fq6k5
Because it is using the template style JA Appolio default that does not have main body block .
You need to create a template style that have content block .
    do the work below :
    1. Go to template manager >> select JA Appolio defaulr >> Duplicate >>> Here >>> http://prntscr.com/6fq58m
2.Now open the created Duplicate template that you just created >> layout >>> Select layout Default
You can see this layout has the different module positions and component block (content block) Save it .
    http://prntscr.com/6fq6qd
Use this template style for the menus items that are not showing the articles like this menu >> >>> http://prntscr.com/6fq6k5

Now open the search module and assign the menu item Webinars (that is using the new template style that you Created )

Note : Make sure default layout and home layout has different module positions .
Take a backup of site before applying changes .

    Hi,

Okay, so I was able to set up the search functionality for the FAQ page. I will be replicating this across the webinar, whitepaper and demo pages. Thank you for your help with this.

My last question is on the page with the video: http://webdev.fairwarning.com/parallax-test. This page is comprised of several different modules (video, parallax, etc.). How do I make this page into something that is searchable? I have applied the new template to this page but it is not rendering correctly.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you,
    Gene

    Hello Gene
Sorry the search functionality is handled by core joomla . That will search the article content not modules .
You can write your wish on Joomla Forum.

As always thank you for the quick reply.

On the home page of the template you have a working search capability: http://www.joomlart.com/demo/#ja_appolio. My home page is laid out in a similar fashion. How can I make my page searchable? I’ve tried dumping all of the modules into an article but it did not render correctly.

    Thanks,
    Gene

Hello Gene Apology for the issue . But this is something that we can support .
Search functionality is handled by Joomla search component . we do not provide support for Core Joomla components .
I request you to write your wish on Joomla forum .
