August 16, 2009 at 7:36 pm #143507I’m getting “Secure Connection Failed” when connecting to Members Area. I’m using Firefox 3.0.13 see below.
Secure Connection Failed
http://www.joomlart.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
(Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)
* This could be a problem with the server’s configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.* If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.
Or you can add an exception…bennitos Friendbennitos

August 16, 2009 at 11:17 pm #314461Yeah I added an exception too. Its probably got to do with the server errors we have been experiencing.

August 16, 2009 at 11:57 pm #314464Its just because they are using a self-signed certificate, wich is not considered as safe because its not controlled by any trusted companies.
Self signed is cheap (free) but can cause all kind of problems. Even more seeing that they have an expiring date after a year. This certificate is valid from 13-august-2009 (date the problems started) till 13-august-2010.
If that one expires and they will just create another self-signed certificate then JA is in for alot of trouble as the browsers will block the site completly because they have the old certificate still stored, wich the browser already see’s as unsafe.
But when that stored one for the same site gets replaced with another self-signed certificate (wich the browser also does not trust). Then the browser (some like firefox). Will block the site completly, cant even put an exception till you manually remove the old certificate… -
